I didn't read the whole thread, but his initial post was saying that sometimes fans didn't need to know every little detail of what was going on with recruiting.
For instance, the coaches may be trying to work on a recruit without an opposing staff catching wind of it, and if that's the case, the "insiders" who pay their $100 a year are better off being in the dark about, so that it doesn't become public knowledge. In other words, fans mettle too much in recruiting and push for information too much and often are a hindrance to a staff's efforts.
That was the general gist of the post I read. I don't know if anything else was said later in the thread. Halpert interpreted it that we were cheating. I don't think that's what he was saying.
I took it to be a reference to the Dee Arrington thing, whether it was made up or not about him wanting to visit. The feeling was that it becoming public allowed some people in his family/coaches/etc. to put a stop to the visit. Like I said, who knows the truth about that, but that was the general type of situation I think he was referring to.
ETA: I could see where the post might have been interpreted the other way, but I am pretty sure Lott wouldn't have posted something to mean the other interpretation. He can be a dumbass sometimes, but I don't think he's that dumb, nor would Chuck or one of his mods pinned the post at one point if that's what was meant by it.
