This is huge and the writer isn't a totally absurd, thin-skinned, emotionally-driven nitwit for making a big deal out of a tweet with Gulf of America in it. That's just as bad a lynching someone or murdering MLK, jr. This is serious sports journalism from a serious sports journalist who must be taken seriously for his deep thoughts on this issue. I just hope our nation, and not just Ole Miss recruiting, survives after such an unacceptable and unforgivable tweet. I'm actually o.k. if this idiocy inspires an athlete to not sign with Ole Miss.

Man, it would be so easy to write an article like this, but the writer just whiffed.

One wonders what we’d say about him and his middling career if not for the existence of X, the social media platform once known as Twitter. In fact, trolling might be what Kiffin is known for as much as anything he’s done in 15 years as a head coach—a couple of pre-COVID-era Conference USA championships notwithstanding.

I admit I didn't read the whole article, but read most of it. I don't understand. In his first term, more African Americans were employed than ever before - 160 million.

He helped create a better environment for minority owned businesses through job training, tax reform, and deregulation. Unemployment among blacks reached a record low of 5.2 percent with a labor force participation of 63/2 percent, the highest it had been since the 2008 recession.

In 2017, Trump signed an executive order on the White House initiative supporting historically black colleges and universities - the earliest Executive Order on HBCUs signed by any President. He also signed legislation that increased Federal funding to HBCU programs by more than 14 percent.

Trump also signed legislation that forgave more than $300 million in Hurricane Katrina related debt for New Orleans area HBCUs.

These are just a few of the reasons Trump doubled his support among black women and received almost 20 percent of the vote of black men. No other Republican has come close to that for decades.

So the author of this stupid article can suck it. Black people aren't of a single mind. There are plenty of black athletes that will sign with Ole Miss and whether or not, Kiffin supports Trump or Kamala or anyone else, will not matter.

People boycotting Ole Miss over the overt racism that Ole Miss has embraced over the years is not new. Rebel flags, Statues to Confederate Generals, KKK rallies etc... Has it mattered? Probably but how much? I thought they put that to bed years ago. Frankly, I doubt they are looked at any differently than any other place now but opinions do vary, hell, mine is way different than many of yours.

Leach was a Trump guy and I would doubt if there are many football coaches that are any different. Sure, some will be vocal and others not but that's the same with any group of people.

Point being, this doesn't move the needle for me as meaning anything other than a click bait article.

I never thought there would be a day I had Ole Miss's back on something, but this is so stupid. I hope Lane rips this guy apart.

It’s a stupid argument b b but…..I’m all for it …anything that hurts the Confederates . 17 em… I hope he gets every talking head out there shouting it from the mountain top. My disdain for the Confederates knows no limits. If Jesus Christ was the Ole Miss QB I would still pull for the other team!

I’m surprised there’s never been a concentrated effort to cancel the term, “Ole Miss” like there was to cancel the term “Redskins.” As “woke” as ESPN was in the mid-late 2010s, no one put effort into that.

Yeah that’s ridiculous. And that’s coming from someone that loathes Ole Miss and isn’t a Trump fan by any stretch. I like The Ringer Podcasts but this is just stupid.
He kinda got off on an unrelated tangent.

If you don’t want to read the whole article, this is all that’s relevant. It’s all I read:

He included Trump’s X handle in the post and added an American flag emoji, a not-so-subtle endorsement of the president’s ridiculous crusade to rename the gulf as an insult to Mexico.

Kiffin’s post wasn’t an explicit endorsement of Trump or all of his policies, but Trump’s supporters certainly seemed to take it that way, which is why I’m comfortable thinking of it as such. And if Kiffin isn’t willing to explain the thinking behind his post, or take it down, then I think Black recruits and transfers should think about going somewhere else.
