Murray State won the Oxford regional with an ERA of 11.00 over four games, by far the worst of the 16 winners. I know they gave up a lot of earned runs in their only loss (17), but omit that game, and their ERA in their three wins was still 9.00.

Miami had the second-worst ERA among the regional winners (6.25). They also gave up 17 earned runs in their only loss. Omit that game, and their ERA was 2.67.

I went back to 2016 and couldn't find a regional winner with an ERA of 9.00 or worse. The vast majority of teams with an ERA that high went 0-2.

Maybe. But up to 5 games in 72 hours has always been a recipe for a lot of runs.
Right. And that’s been the format for a while and he is saying he can’t find a regional winner with that high of an era

The pundits seem to think the postseason balls we’re juiced
How would that explain Murray State's ERA compared to the other teams in this year's tournament? Murray State was 61 out of 64 in team ERA this past weekend.

How would that explain Murray State's ERA compared to the other regional winners? 13 of the top 16 ERAs in the regional round advanced to the super regional round. West Virginia and Miami were 25th and 31st, respectively. Then you have Murray State down at 61st.

The stats are clear: ERA is a significant indicator of regional success. If you gave someone the ERAs from last weekend, they could get close to guessing the super regional field. They would get the Oxford regional winner wrong for sure, though.

Bottom line…U of Miss and South Miss are not better than The Mississippi State University.😁
