that supposedly a Noxubee Co official told the NCAA that Pat had cheated on his ACT, and that the NCAA came to Oxford and made Pat re-take the test again...rumor is he made 20 both times.

The ACT is a completely separate organization from the NCAA. No way the NCAA would be able to watch anyone take an ACT test.

There is no way NCAA can make someone retake the test (while they watch), administer test, or anything else. From what I understand, the only real thing they can do is launch an investigation, and if they found something, rule him ineligible.

then see how far off the scores are to see if anything needs to be looked into further. But Patterson was never really that shaky on qualifying, so it seems odd.

issue, and he did get the same score. Don't know if the NCAA watched.

The conspiracy theory is that the official who called the NCAA is a MSU booster, and did it because Patterson backed out of his commitment.

there is no way he made a 20. I know the family and him well. Not the brightest and sharpest person in the world or much less noxubee county. I just don't see this being true. hell omarr made a 12 the first time and omarr is much more compentent than patterson. Just my thoughts.

I retract my last statement. Just read the CL article about him retaking the Act. I stand corrected. Odd that they would make him retake it. Apparently NHS has improved their academics. Can't say that I ever attended there though. that school is scary.

you have confirmed it here.

"Retracting" your statements just makes you look like more of a dumbass.

My "no way" comment was directed to the part of the rumor about him taking it while the NCAA representative watched.

Just from judging his two post on the topic, I'm sure joe lee dunn would have loved to have gotten a 20 on his ACT. Maybe thats why he thought Patterson had no chance.

It's pretty ridiculous to act like you know the guy real well and basically say he is a moron who in no way could make a 20, then after it is shown that the guy took the test again in front of a proctor and made a 20 say "I retract my statement".

He might as well have said, "I have no @@#%$!% clue what I'm talking about, but I struggled to get in juco so Pat couldn't have possibly made a 20."

There are 7th graders who take the ACT as a part of the Duke Talent Identification Program. This is the same ACT taken by 11th and 12th graders. And its taken on the same day and at the same location. I know for a fact that there is at least one school in the metro area that had 16 7th graders take the ACT a year or so ago. That group of 7th graders averaged 19 on it. So, no, a 20 ain't saying much.

I think I made like a 16 on the ACT when I took it around the age of 12. I have a friend that forgot about the test and stayed up all night drinking and got no sleep and managed to get a 21 (when he was 18 years old, not in the TIP program). He hauled *** through the section of the test and fall asleep for 45 minutes or so. A 20 will definitely get you into school but remember, it's only 4 points higher than the minimum to get into college. I'm with Shmuley, it's not saying that much.</p>

Sad thing is, a 20 is considered a pretty good score if you're an athlete trying to get in school from Mississippi. When you're dealing with so many 16s, 17s, and 18s, where GPA becomes a major concern, 20 looks like passing with flying colors.

and made an 18. I basically just went down the scantron making patterns with the bubbles. I really fail to see how people can make scores such as a 12 on the ACT. These kids would do better to just guess on every question rather than try and answer them. It takes a special brand of dumb to do that bad on that test.
