Not sure if this is true, but an Auburn fan coworker shared this with me...that the last time a team won AT LSU and AT Bama was 1957. And that team was MSU.
Thought it was cool, if true.
Go Dawgs!

7 conf games. 5 on the road, 2 at home.
Why did we ever do that back then?
WE drove there, they could've drove here. What I understand is that back then the conference didn't set the schedule, the schools would set the schedules. That's why OM pussied out against Alabama et al.I think you have to consider a couple of things in context of 1957:
1. Much of Mississippi was not nearly as accessible then as it is now with the current highway system and airports we have in place. So playing the games in other places probably made more sense in terms of publicity and payout based on ticket sales.
2. Davis Wade Stadium (and Veterans stadium in Jackson) weren't what they are now. I'm sure venues like Tiger Stadium and Legion Field were much larger and more modern than anything the state of Mississippi had to offer back in those days.
3. Mississippi only had one team that mattered to anyone of consequence back in those days (Ole Miss). So naturally, scheduling is a bit more difficult when you don't have the fan base or the political pull of the big boys.
