Feel free to beat a dead horse here. In perusing our football statistics, I found an interesting nugget (RIP USM mascot).

Rushing yards:
2023- Will Rogers -13
2024- Michael Van Buren -12

I know, I know, sacks… but their averages were -0.2 per attempt for MVB and -0.3 for Rogers. Even if you take sacks out, it’s pedestrian. For comparison, Dart had 452 yards and was sacked more than MVB.

I love the dynamic MVB brings. He’s power 5 and Will was group of 5. But MVB has to use that dynamic regardless of fear of injury. If he doesn’t use his wheels next year, our offense is severely handicapped. He can be special if he uses his whole skill set.

I suspect one reason we didn’t run him more was how screwed we’d be if he got hurt.

That’s nearly every team, though, right? I mean, I guess we coulda gone 1-11.

I was gonna look it up, but I reckon he finished dead last in QB rushing in conference of the starters.

Van Buren did have 169 yards rushing if you don't count the sacks.

Rogers had 75.
