Let's set the record straight: Mississippi State (Posted on 9/6/11 at 8:11 p.m.)

laugh, flame, cry. It really doesn't matter to me. I'm here to let you know what is coming. This however is NOT meant to flame ANYONE. I mean to be one of the first to call this before it happens. (Been calling it anyway)

2011 MSU Bulldog schedule

Memphis- Big W
Auburn- Big W
LSU- ?
La Tech- Big W
Georgia- Big W
UAB- Big W
USCe- ?
Kentucky- Big W
Tenn-Martin- Big W
Alabama- ?
Arkansas- ?
Ole Miss- W

Ok let me get a little more in depth. I think those 8 games are a given. I think MSU Probably finishes 3rd in the SEC, which I'll explain, with a decent darkhorse shot at 2nd in the SEC and gaining a sugar bowl bid.

If USCe keeps winning, and I expect them to beat UGA, they could easily be in the top 10 by the time they play the fighting Mullens. That means MSU is an almost LOCK to play 4 top 10 teams this season.

USCe
Arky
Bama
LSU

Out of these 4, I think MSU will win two. They will field their best team in maybe ever to play us in 9 days, and I wouldn't be shocked if they won. Should LSU win? Of course, but it is the definition of a trap game. They will beat 2 of those 4 teams though.

Here's the interesting part. I predict MSU with a 10-2 reg season and a bowl victory either way, but if MSU were to say beat Arky and USCe, but lose to Bama and LSU, then I think the final standings would be either

LSU
Bama
MSU
Arky
USCe

or

Bama
LSU
MSU
Arky
USCe

BUT..... If MSU were to lose to LSU and USCe, both top 10 teams at the time, and beat Arky and Bama, then it would be a reasonable assumption that they could lose to LSU as well. That means LSU is undefeated, MSU is 10-2, either Bama or Arky finishes 10-2, while the other finishes 9-3 (they play head to head as well, someone has to lose).

Under that scenario, although records are tied, MSU won the head-to-head and are then the second SEC BCS team. FWIW let's even say this scenario happens, but replace Bama or Arky with LSU, and let them go undefeated, and we get their loses. It's just as possible either way.

Under my most likely and expected scenario, MSU is a damn strong 10-2 team headed into the capitol one bowl to take on the thorn is Arky's side, The OHIO STATE. (Nebraska AND Wisconsin are better IMO, they are the third Big 10 Team that would go to this bowl)

Or, what I hope happens even more, but it's only a darkhorse, is you frickers get the Sugar Bowl bid vs an undefeated Boise, and clean up this mess UGA made.

Welcome to the big stage boys. I'll hate you next thursday, but I respect the shite out of your coach and program, and I do NOT have on the blinders. Just because MSU sucked before, doesn't mean they suck now. These guys have a century of football rage to unleash between last year and this.

So that's it. That's my expectations/predictions for the biggest surprise of the SEC season, and for the underdog team the nation will fall in love with.

Flame away, just know IDGAF. Whether you like it or not, this will happen.

P.S. MSU gonna lay the wood on AU this weekend. Ugly, ugly game headed your way, barn.

I feel the same way about it.

But because of our history, I'm petrified of thinking we can do that.

He's not saying anything that I haven't thought of this offseason. This is a new era in MSU football. Dan Mullen is one of the best 5 coaches in college football... and he may be the best coachin the nationin regardsplayer development.

I picked us to beat Auburn 52-24 for a reason.... Because I think we're going to demolish them.
