This one wouldn’t bother me like the others. But if he can’t even get Millogo, he probably can’t get anyone. Coaches are probably telling players that Pope won’t even be here next season. Negative recruiting is gonna be hard on Pope this recruiting cycle.

It's been hard on him since the day he took the job, I'd argue the negative recruiting was amped around the time it became obvious that Cal was focusing on recruiting classes instead of winning championships.
Would Pope's returning status even matter anymore? Players aren't tied to a coach anymore. A top 10 player likely isn't looking to play more than a season anyway.
Finances are probably the biggest reason. Pope isn't offering enough to cover perceived downsides. To get them to come here, he probably needs to pay a premium.
It makes it virtually impossible to recruit if an entire fanbase wants him out and thinks they'll force a guy out of a job.

Same. In order to even be the favorite to land an injury riddled project, we had to hire his coach. That's embarrassing enough. Now sounds like we're in a dogfight for even him.

So it's the fanbase's fault that Mark Pope can't recruit? What about the other seasons where he couldn't get a top high schooler that wasn't tied to the state?
Well you think about how a recruit, or a prospective new coach would look at it.
Coach X walks into UK. For all intent, he has a successful Year 1. S16, grabs a couple good HS players. Y2 stinks, and now the mob is ready to exile him.
If you're stading on the outside, do you want that job? A job that pushed out a HOF coach then wanted to throw Coach 2 out after one bad season? If you're a recruit, do you want to walk into a bees nest where kids are getting threats on social media after a bad exhibition game?
Do you not think every other coach on the planet isn't talking about it with recruits? If you're an 18 year old, do you want to go somewhere your roach is ready to be run out of town and you'll get nasty threats on social media with a bad game? Step back and think if you'd send your 18 year old into that.
If UK ever becomes irrelevant, the NIL era * the fanbase will be the primary reasons.
His very first transfer class was his best by far. That class was criminally underrated by UK fans (including myself) because they didn't have top 5 picks we were used to.
A healthy butler and carr were better than anyone we've had since. Amari was great. Oweh was really good and Robinson played his role.
Pretty crazy how we all assumed that would be our worst talent under Pope but it's the exact opposite.
I like Trilly but I couldn't imagine paying him or anyone else for recruiting news at this point with Pope as our coach lmao.
