What are your hopes for Mississippi State?
"A national title. I think everything is shaking up for that - a good recruiting class, a good offensive minded head coach. And Mississippi State has always been a school - all fourteen years that I have been around it - that plays good defense. They've always been able to get good defensive players here. They just needed an offensive guy to go with that. Now, you have Coach Mullen here with two national titles. That's why I've always considered this place a gold mine.

Have we ever had a coach mention this as a vision for our program?!

I know its all coach speak but I wish coaches would get more realistic with expectations. Just say "well, we want to start by positioning ourselves to win the West in a few years".

Let me just say how refreshing it is to have coaches who have actually passed Coachspeak 101. Yes, most of us realize that MSU has approximately a 2% chance of ever winning a national championship, but finally we have coaches who make that their goal. They can pacify the masses with statements like this which will keep donations coming and give them something to sell to recruits. Cant you just hear Crooms recruiting pitch: "Well Missus Pattason, I caaant promise you that we will evuh reach an SEC Champn'ship or that yooor son will evuh make you money in the National Fooootball League, but he will be a good man."

I know that we havent played a game yet, and these coaches for all we know may be a big flop. However they are doing everything coaches are supposed to do in the offseason. Bravo.

As seen the last 3 years, if you win the SEC Championship, you're going to be in the mix for the NC.

If you are Florida, Bama, Georgia, Tennessee, or LSU you will be in the running. If you are anybody else it will be considered a down year for the SEC

..our fanbase has a short memory.

Knox's statement sounds like an out & out plagarism of any Croom statement circa 2004.

It's not a high percentage, but it's more than 2. Hell, Sylvester Croom won 8 games with a lot of luck. It can happen.

and 2 slots, you do the math. That doesn't mean they weren't in the hunt. It just means they were odd man out because they couldn't leapfrog either of the other 2 teams above them.

then what's being said about the SEC is true about all BCS conferences.
