State doesn't feel like state as much anymore. Hard to pinpoint why. Maybe it is age.

Maybe I am too old school that Vets made it that way and that feel... I guess it is nostalgia perhaps.

The Casey's Center is about as new school Iowa as you can get. Generic and bland.

My thoughts as well. i started the thread to try and get some discussion on state, but it appears the dismal Iowa season combined with lack of top Iowa recruits participating hasn't helped.

It would help if Ross was going to Iowa :)

Well...... actual Iowa commit Dawson Youngblut has 2 tech falls in 2 matches to move into the Semi's.

I feel the same way. Used to set my calendar around traveling there or watching on TV. I think its lack of elite recruits I knew were going to or being recruited by Iowa.

We still followed progress of local kids, or kids coached by friends around the state, on track/flo whatever it is now, and will tune in tonight for the finals, but its nothing like it used to be where it used to be can't miss and we would take the days off from work to watch.

Add to the fact that in an age of unprecedented coverage of college wrestling, it is damn difficult to get a lot of information about Iowa HS wrestling throughout the season.

And most of it is behind a pay wall.

Sorry, I give all my wrestling money to the TnT fund. For just a few hundo a year, you can help a wrestler learn to hand fight!

In seriousness, the average fan, and most hardcore fans, are not gonna pony up for local HS wrestling info. Thus there is less attention paid to the sport overall. Hence, my original comment about more coverage than ever but it's hard to find FREE content about Iowa HS Wrestling.

My son used to train him and Calvin Rathjen a couple of years ago with weight training and had told me back then that both were very hard workers for middle school kids and that both were great kids and going to be stud wrestlers when they got to high school.

I’m just curious where all this free coverage you were getting 20 years ago was coming from?
