This is from my friend DryPat (He's not as detailed as what we are used to):

1st Period:

Some good looking women in the background.
0-0

2nd Period:

I was busy looking for good looking women in the background.
It's 4-1, so, I'm assuming that Davino escaped, got a takedown and Ayala escap
Nevermind, the girl at the table in the white is pretty cute
4-1 Davino end of 2nd

3rd Period:

Ayala escape.......why does Shane make such a big deal about ketchup on hot dogs when the woman was clearly eating an Italian Sausage.
I truly hope this somehow ends 8-2
Davino wins 4-2.........4 is the new 8

WOW. That was the most amazing finish I have ever seen. Unbelievable! In 5 decades of watching wrestling....never seen anything better than THAT!. Wait....what happened? Who won? Score? Not gonna tell you......8-2 Ha Ha
All this joking about every bout being 8-2…

If they were watching our match from earlier this evening, they would be joking about 20-5!

Backups for the Buckeyes at 157 & 165. Great job by Birden to hold Caliendo to a decision. He looked good doing his job. Caliendo is still great, but, he may have regressed a bit. That is just what I'm seeing, he is probably my favorite current Hawkeye.
Having a hard time remembering a hawk that didn’t regress the final year.

That last TD attempt by Ayala illustrates for me the difference between Iowa coaching and Penn State coaching. Ayala had 17 seconds to take his time and get the winning TD. He could have shelved Davino's leg and would have had a good chance to methodically work his way to the TD. Instead, he rushed the position and stood up with the leg, allowing Davino to roll through, tie up Ayala's leg and hold on until the end of the period. I may be a homer, but I believe Marcus would have converted the TD in that situation.

I think Marcus is up by 6 points based on what we saw tonight.

Everyone praising Mendez as already a legend needs to remember that Bartlett was basically dead even with him. Maybe 51-49.

And he never had to deal with Nick.
Hah! I wish your wife would talk to mine. She acts like watching wrestling is no different than going out to strip clubs!

I could never be one of those guys ogling girls almost young enough to be a granddaughter, but if I lost my mind and went to one, I'd be served papers.

Of course, she's just happy I stopped saying " I'm headed West for tornado tourism some year" after storm chaser Tim Samaras was killed.

I have to wonder if Bouzakis will be ready for next week? My other question is, are they going to run Cannon out there for his first match in 2 months against PJ Duke? Actually I got another question, I am starting to think Paddy is out now and they might go with the freshman? Frankly it's irrelevant for next week and basically every time out against PSU at 165 but do they actually think they get a point more out of the freshman at Nationals?

That Bouzakis injury looked bad, real bad, and he threw his head gear on the mat after an assistant tried to ask him if he was ok. I don't really know if he is "ok", but they might send him out on one leg figuring he can still pin or tech any of the guys from 16 to 33 seed wise. Strategy wise, history shows that if a move needs made one way or another, you can count on Ryan to make the wrong one 😂

4 total takedowns for Iowa tonight. For such a storied program, they continually reach new lows. As much as we hate on them, wrestling is better with a strong Iowa. Ohio State showed us nothing tonight. They must have forgotten their robes.

Just think how bad they are going to be after Caliendo and Kennedy are gone. Arnold has no offense, Ayala is going backwards, Keiter isn't developing. Slumlord Bob poaching the Little Rock guys didn't help, Ferrari's big weapon is doing splits like a cheerleader..

He faded in the 3rd badly either way. This is going to be an issue for him on the 2nd day in Cleveland.
Him winning the big 10s will be important. That would mean his toughest match off the scale would be 8/9 seed in the 1/4. Semis at night he's gonna be big. And if he makes the finals Sat night he will be big. Where he's seeded will be huge for him

The media is already laying the groundwork to not give a PSU wrestler the Hodge. You can see it building for Mendez. I’m not saying he isn’t a viable candidate, but you can tell they will use the “career” argument and say “Messenbrink can win it next year “. Then they will reward a 1 year wonder in 2027 and somehow Messenbrink will end up a top 5 all timer and no Hodge. Ever since Zain’s sophomore year screw job, and then Lee getting 2 shares he had no business receiving, I refuse to get upset about it anymore. As long as we keep destroying the team race, I’m happy. But it is funny to see the politicking starting to build.

Yes and no. It's matchups. Spratley could pose problems and he might end up the 8 seed. So could Robinson.

Was it Bousakis back or Oblique that got tweaked?
I am guessing here but that looked an awful lot like an oblique injury. His leg was blown fully from ankle to knee and it might have torn an oblique. I keep thinking about that headgear slam.... whatever it is, it's no small thing.

It's close but Brink has 3 more falls and all wins by major or better. Mendez has 2 regular decisions.

Bouzakis has managed his cut very well. I didn't think he'd be able to. That said if this injury is anything serious it could impact his weight management/conditioning. Says captain obvious, lol.

165 is also a better weight then 141. I wouldn't be so paranoid

I don't see either of those guys being an 8/9. Steve O / Provo type of guy probably

This was on the other site before it shut down, but I called Mendez being a 3-timer before his Sophomore season. He isn’t getting beaten this year. Love both Desmond and Scooter, but they aren’t beating him, nor is anyone else. Glad he is done with college after this season.

PSU has potentially their best team ever, we lose Levi and one can argue we might just be even better next year.
Iowa has their worst team in memory, they lose several of their hammers, and it's likely without a portal bonanza in the off season they will be even worse next year.
The times they are a changing.
