You guys know that particular "O" word is not allowed on a Hawkeye message board, right?Funny stuff. Said it probably cost him a NIL deal with the Olive Garden.....

Speaking of breaking Little Debbie's heart with walk off "threes...."
Enjoy.
I believe in Ben McCollum and his ability to scheme and coach. Just like Maryland, little red punched us in the mouth the second time around. But the third time we played Maryland, we thoroughly outplayed them thanks to Ben's coaching. I'd like to think that will happen again today with the bugeaters.
This is the biggest Iowa basketball game of my life, and I pray to the lord we win.

Some/all here might disagree with me but I'm fully at peace even if we dont win, and this is coming from someone who lives in Omaha! To slay a Sweet 16 dragon, to do it how we did it vs. a #1 seed on essentially their home court in Year 1 of Ben is simply insane. Neb has their best year EVER in bball with a coach there for 6+ years and we have what we have it's pretty incredible. Maybe I'll change my tune at tipoff but a loss to Neb in football seems to sting a bit more...
We definitely got some PTSD as a fan base lol. The last game we were all convinced Florida would hit a game winner at the end. Here’s to hoping Ben and the hawks continue to exorcise those demons for us!
I think we're singing from the same hymnal.Let's face it....this is a game neither losing side will be able to sleep at night or "get over" for a long time. When you hit the tourney wall against the likes of UConn or Arizona or Houston, or Duke....or hell, even one of the traditional in-conference elites like Michigan, Michigan State or Purdue, that's one thing. But to be bounced this way after doing something one side has never done and the other side hadn't done this century, will be a very, very bitter pill to swallow indeed.
When it comes to Sandfort, whoever is on him needs to think of the following:
Coach Norman Dale:
Stick with your man. Think of him as chewing gum. By the end of the game, I want you to know what flavor he is.
Im the same way from the opposite end of the spectrum. Im just thrilled we made it this far. If it wasnt for the fact that an Iowa win means I'll never hear the end of it from my buddies, Id actually be happier to see this game go Iowas way.
Well...happier probably isn't the right word. I always want to see the Huskers win. But weve always sucked at basketball save a few years in the 90s (and even then...) meanwhile watching all of my Hawkeye buddies suffer heart break in college basketball when it actually meant something to them, I want to see Iowa get over that hump and keep pushing deep into the tournament for the sake of my close friends.
I just wish it didnt have to possibly come at our expense.![]()
Need good Folgueiras again. Really hope his mom's coming. He was great in Tampa with her. Be nice if Bennett could get an efficient 20.
Wow, can I be your friend?
You are the walking definition of selfless.
Fair Warning: as your friend I will not reciprocate and root for the Huskers![]()
If you had offered this to me before the year, I obviously would have taken it in a heartbeat! Playing with house money. That said, I definitely don't want the journey to end here, especially since I feel like this is a very winnable game.
I will be disappointed if they lose, but not upset/angry about it. Mission accomplished this season - anything else from here in this tournament is gravy.
Hi new friend!Random question, but does anyone else have an issue on mobile when scrolling through a thread and encountering a link to X, you just...cant scroll suddenly anymore? Just me?![]()
Was preparing for the worst during the last 4.9 seconds against Florida. It didn’t happen. Hawks advance today!
Wait a second! She had to go back to Spain.
His brother, Taco, will be there!
will go a different route and say Folgueris will be the X factor once again.
And for the love of God, MAKE YOUR FT's!!
Absolutely cannot miss 10 FT's and walk out with a win.
If we ever start making open 3s on the regular, that would go a long way too...
BUT if the worst thing that can happen is to lose a sweet 16 game then I think we are on the right track.I really hope you are right, but as a life-long Iowa fan I am preparing myself for the worst. Just happens to Iowa sports in big games too often IMO.
TBD. I like your style. What time to we play Illinois on Saturday after we beat Nebraska?
Wait a second!
Is that a Bob Griese type remark? His nickname isn't really Taco, is it?

Thanks for your man-on-the-scene reporting! In Houston downtown and there are a lot of Nebraska fans here. I;ve seen as many Illinois fans as Iowa and probably 30 Nebraska fans for every one Iowa or Illinois fan (at least by appearances). Going be heartbreaking for them…
1980…Philly at the Spectrum beat Syracuse on Friday night and Georgetown on Sunday. I was there. Never forget it. Partied Saturday night with Mac McCausland and Ken Burmeister.A trip down memory lane for anyone experiencing their first Sweet 16.
Lute’s run to the Final Four was nothing short of spectacular, especially that thrilling win over Georgetown. If you ever get the chance, watch it on YouTube.
Still, the Iowa team that stays with me most is Dr. Tom’s first-year group. I won’t revisit what happened in the Elite Eight, except to say that I still think about it now and then.
The following year, we returned to the Sweet 16, beating Florida State and UNLV - - one of the most satisfying wins I’ve ever witnessed. We didn’t just win; we dismantled UNLV.
Then came Dr. Tom’s final season and that bittersweet Sweet 16 run. We beat UAB and took down the defending national champion, Kentucky, to get there. No one expected a lame-duck coach to carry us that far, but he did.
I hope tonight is super special because none of us will forget it for the rest of our lives. Enjoy it. And Go Hawks!
LOLthey call Alvaro's brother Taco.
Thought I'd kill time watching the Cubs, but man was that miserable. Awful weather, but the Cubs were worse, going down to the bottom-feeding Nationals 10-4, and it's still two hours til game time for the Hawkeyes. I feel ya, Daffy. I do . . .
"Okay," the Nebraskan said. "But what are they for?"
Why, Mama, why?She had to go back to Spain.
His brother, Taco, will be there!
