This ref reminds me of Kenny Powers sidekick Steve from Eastbound and Down

Merrill gets a couple takedowns & is up 6-1 midway through the 1st period. Sampson finds another escape, 6-2. That's it for the 1st period.
Period 2:
Merrill takes down & gets a quick escape, 7-2. Merrill picks up another TD, 10-2. Sampson gets another escape, 10-3. Merrill adds another TD, 13-3. Sampson gets another escape, 13-4. Merrill shoots & takes Sampson to his back, then gets the fall.

Somehow Arnold was actually the more aggressive wrestler in that match and at the same time the one who loses on stall calls. If the refs are going to quit calling regular stalling and only call It on the edge of the mat then they should just make a push out point.
Crazy that many of us (me included) were a little concerned about losing Ryder and bringing Rocco in instead. In Cael We Trust.
He was in on the single and walked him over there. Seriously, can you just walk a guy to the edge, let go of the leg and push him out? Ryder wasn't even in bounds when he shoved him.
Cunningham and Henckel would both be beating him by next season. Welsh wasn't his only problem...
I thought takedowns were MORE important in freestyle.
Glad to see a reinvigorated Ok state program and crowd. I feel a little bad for Iowa. But man the refereeing has got to be better. Like riding time should stall calls be reset in SV/OT?
Over/Under on offensive shots that Kueter takes in regulation is set at 0.5. What do you take?

The "somehow" is that twice Arnold got caught in unfavorable situations where his entire body was out of bounds while defending.
I keep wondering if Cunningham might jump levels enough to challenge Rocco. Apparently he started late and has been making big jumps every year.

What does Iowa’s roster look like next year? They lose Peterson, Ayala and Caliendo. I’m guessing they will hit the portal hard again, but it’s definitely not working for them. Bailey and Williams did not improve this year. No idea what their recruiting class looks like, but Iowa goes 12-6 this and I don’t see a better team next year. Yikes!!!

If Rocco didnt jump levels himself, id say yes. But Rocco is looking championship level.

Keuter gets the night off & Marty steps in to take his place. Marty works the tie-up & push strategy to start the match. Doucet gets a TD, 3-0, then looks for back points. He gets a couple exposures, but can't hold Marty long enough for points. Doucet rides out the period. 3-0.

Loses on a stall call after the same joke Official wiped out a clear TD. It takes some really bad Officiating to wipe out the only offensive points of the match scored and then determine the match in OT with a questionable call to end the match as Arnold was never give an opportunity to circle back into the mat as Zac (the wrestler inbounds) voluntarily ran OB - by rule, what Zac did was more illegal than what Arnold did. That was some special kind of joke Folk Officiating wiping out quality wrestling and offensive scores so he could make his bizzaro stall calls (somehow he completely swallowed his whistle regarding stalling during the insane stall-ride of Robideau).
Facundo always been a better freestyle wrestler. It's strange....he just looks completely different. Made world teams and beat Levi not that long ago.
Arnold was as robbed as any wrestler in any match I’ve seen. Had a takedown, both stall calls were questionable and the second was atrocious.
I think next year's is going to be hard to supplant as best ever. But I thought that about last year and then this year so who knows haha
