by firing missiles at U.S Military base in Qatar that were all intercepted. They were nice enough to give everyone a heads up about it too. They know they don't have any good options. Might as well just throw in the towel.

Going to be a very interesting next 6 months or so while the current political situation in Iran gets sorted out.

I was told a long time ago that the average Iranian wants blue jeans and rock 'n' roll music. They said to me that people who were in charge of their government were all fundamentalists, and that's where the problem comes.
Yep, most of their 91 million people don't want nukes, or to be the major terrorist sponsors in the world. But they of course are held down by the exact same leaders who DO want those things.

It would be ideal for those majority citizens to take control of the country themselves and leave us out of it, now that a path has been cleared for it. I hope that happens.

Iran is one of the largest state sponsors to terrorism on the planet, but have you ever noticed that very few terrorist are actually from Iran? Seems like they are generally from Saudi Arabia or Yemen.

I expect that we will see increased cyberwarfare. On the heels of some of the NSA cuts, I'm hopeful we have the people to thwart it. Traditionally, our national cybersecurity efforts have leaned way too heavily on red team activities at the expense of not having adequate blue team depth.

It is usually the country that is best at hiding them at the moment.

The supreme leader (dude is 17'n 86 years old) and his cohorts are probably gonna be way more concerned with not getting overthrown and executed for the foreseeable future...

They went through the motions to be able to say they "retaliated". They know they have no business fighting us unless they want to bring hell fire down into population areas. The fact we flew 7 bombers halfway around the planet undetected has to get Russia/China's attention as well. Out of my wheelhouse here, but I believe Iran has similar radar tech as Russia/China if not sourced directly from them.

I'm sure terrorism will be popping off the rest of the summer where there is opportunity though.

Certainly there will be some awful acts of terrorism coming. Hopefully it's contained.

War is truly hell and there's probably no defending some of the things Israel has done in Gaza. But, that said, their neutering of Hamas and Hezbollah over the last few years and incredibly competent takedown of Iran's air defenses has been impressive to say the least.

Think you're right about it being a signal to Russia and China too. China obviously wants Taiwan and Russia wants to move west. I think this was part of the reason. Trump is basically saying, "watch your *** boys".

I don't think China will ever try to take Taiwan. I think any risk-reward analysis and any cost-benefit analysis will lead them to conclude that keeping the status quo is the best option.

I was told that was ridiculous back when people could cross our border without any problems. I'm sure we're just fear-mongering.

Another reminder about how bad @SS our founding fathers were.

we were outnumbered and revolted over a tea tax.

70,000,000 won’t revolt against 10,000,000 over heavy persecution

Of course there is that whole 2nd amendment thing libs make fun of too.

Always trying to get a jab in!!

I mean we probably should rehire them all so they can keep using that paper retirement system that takes up like 90 million square feet of bunker space.

Israel hasn’t done anything in Gaza that’s any different than any other war.

Some collateral damage? Sure.
Some isolated dubmasses doing some bad things? Yeah but no different than any other war.

Seems like a really good argument to have a controlled and safe border eh?

I've never argued for an open one. Been waiting for one of these parties to figure it out for my entire life now rather than campaign on an approach and do basically nothing.

Our disagreements would probably be with how to best secure it but that's devil in the details stuff.

To make this sports related…

Mississippi State plays Texas this fall. Texas scores the first five times they have the ball and take a 35-0 halftime lead. Total destruction.

The second half starts and while the Texas offense is now contained (not trying), we are still unable to move the ball or score.

We have about the same shot against Texas as Iran has against the US. Iran/we have to take part in the war/game to try and save face, but in the end the US/Texas will easily be victorious.

Credit is deserved in this Iran/Israel situation if what appears to be happening is happening.

Everything about our border situation and immigration environment is pure **** show right now. No credit earned unless you just enjoy watching chaos.

I don't think anybody else has waged a war in an urban area like Israel has and done this well limiting civilian casualties.

Now hold on, the number of illegal border crossings has greatly improved. I wouldn’t call that pure ****.

I enjoy watching illegal border crossings drop to almost zero.

not sure why you wouldn’t

They are building everything to do it, right down the amphibious ships. They are going to attempt it, and in the next 3-5 years.

Indeed they are down. 99.9% if you believe the White House. I have no doubt they are down significantly bc Biden was abysmally bad but 99 sounds kinda crazy. The chaos part is in reference to there not really being any sort of workable long term plan for handling what has already crossed and what legal immigration is going to look like in the future. Mass deportations isn't going to work - practically or politically. Not with an economy reliant on the workers and in desperate need of their tax dollars. But step 1 is getting some order on the crossings part before any of the rest can work so yes that's a good thing is a station devoid of any good things.
