I was there a couple years ago. Stayed at Dromoland Castle near Dublin, which was very nice. Toured Guinness and went over to The Cliffs of Moher, which was very nice.

I guess close is a relative term (about 250 Km). I thought it was a nice place too BTW.

We're staying a few days in Dublin and then renting a car and driving across the country. We will end our trip in Shannon and fly home from there.

Driving in Ireland is challenging to say the least. Highways are fine but local roads usually only offer about a lane and a half total. They also don't use cloverleaf off ramps like in the U.S. (they use roundabouts). Then there is the whole driving on the wrong side of the road. Good luck and don't forget to take out the insurance on your rental.

Thanks, I won't be driving. I plan on riding and stopping at every pub we run across.
