Is A. Dixon going to the NFL a possibility this year?

Just thinking about our prospects for next year. I'm just hoping we can get through this year respectably because we won't lose anybody but Pegues and Fitzhugh next year. Not to bad since Johnson comes back and Mitchell will probably be the next Pegues. And assuming 75% of the recrootin' class holds.

Chaney as well, wonder if he flirts with the NFL. Well I guess we're losing Douglas and Strauder too.

I honestly dont think Dixon ever makes it to the NFL personally. He is decent but not great and will never be a high draft and would probably ride the bench if he even got a consideration at all.

Chaney would be an idiot to flirt with the NFL. He really needed a good year this year to even get a shot. Dixon needs to consult with Rufus French and Rory Johnson before he thinks about leaving after this year.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I don't think Dixon has much of an NFL future. I think he's essentially the same back as Green-Ellis. He's a good between the tackles runner and a very good college back, but he doesn't have enough speed to make it in the NFL.

You lose your starting defensive end Tim Bailey and two other backup defensive ends.

You lose your two starting WRs (I think they both start) Co-Eric Riley and Aubrey Bell

You lose both your starting guards.

You lose both your full-backs.

You lose your starting DT in McCraney and your main back up in Bowman.

You lose a starting LB in Douglas

You lose a starting CB in O'Quinn

And you mentioned your two safeties.

So you lose ten starters. Six on defense and four on offense.

Your defense will be much worse next year.

Yea, I thought I heard Goat or someone say that MSU was going to have something like 29 seniors this fall. That's part of the reason why I was thinking MSU could be a darkhorse in the West.

Unless that wasn't true, losing 29 seniors will be tough.

I don't think you've got better DTs or safeties or wide receivers or even a fullback? But Mitchell should be adequate at least early on and move to more solid as he gets older. Johnson will replace oquinn.

Our recruiting classes have been getting better and better each year. It's that simple. We're getting more talent every year. Will we probably take a step back from Pegues/Fitzhugh? Sure, but that's one area. Our defensive line is only going to get better.

Are you kidding me? Receivers? Yeah they've always been world beaters haven't they? And by the way, McRae and Robinson will be back.

I'm not sold on Dixon as an NFL player. He is durable enough for the NFL, and his size and strength are a plus. Speed isn't there for a scatback, but speed is fine for a physical back. The problem is that he is not physical. For a guy with his size and strength, you don't ever see him run over somebody. He would rather try to elude or jump over a defensive back than lower his shoulder and punish him. He looks the part of a pounder, but doesn't play that way. I think he could have trouble in the NFL.

At DE we will have Brandon Cooper coming back and Pernell McPhee coming in (should he remain committed) Croom also has signed 24 DE's so someone will likely pan out as back-ups. The first two guys I mentioned are Jr's.

At WR we return Brandon McRae and Delmon Robinson, both of who have looked promising thus far. Not to mention the plethora of Fr. WR's we have coming in. We'll probably be OK there to. I'm usually not all that high on recruits, but I think that Pat Patterson probably is going to be pretty good.

Guards- Could be a problem. We'll have to figure that out in the spring. Saulsberry probably will be one.

FB- I have a feeling that we are going to move Marcus Green back to FB and let Nelson Hurst be the TE. Again, speculation on my part. Also, problem area.

DT- We return Kyle Love. He will have to step it up as a leader. Croom will probably play someone like Jackson from Canton, and I'm thinking that Boyd is going to get a long look next year. One solid tackle, one question mark.

LB- We also got a break in Chaney probably coming back, along with KJ Wright. Then we have a JUCO in Chris White coming in.

S- Take a huge hit here, but we also return Zach Smith. Might switch Wade Bonner to safety, and then maybe Charles Mitchell.

CB- We probably get Anthony Johnson, which would be a huge boost for our defense, along with an experienced Marcus Washington.
