Is Bumphis Mississippi's 2nd best QB?

I've had two football people I respect tell me that Tupelo would have been a better team had Bumphis QBed. One went so far as to say he's the second best QB prospect in the state, especially if you want your QB running the ball in a spread option attack. I understand he's got a good arm as well.

that would be great. I imagine that having a Harvin type player in the offense that can throw the ball will open up a lot of possibilities in Mullen's offense.

but I have heard that he did have a pretty good arm and that he made plays with his legs and through the air. I'm glad we have a coach now that will not hesitate to use him at QB in certain situations.

And the 3rd best may be the Louisville QB that replaced Clayton Moore.

..Matt Wyatt was obviously blown away by Bumphis's performance. Said Chad had the most impressive night of any high school quarterback that he'd ever seen.

I forget the stat line (and I'm way to lazy to google it), but I remember Bumphis being responsible for 7 TD's and something like 26 attempts with 2 incompletes.

This morning on WCBI's show, Wyatt kept stressing his ability as a dual threat QB. Compared him to White at WV.

Chad was easily the fastest kid at Steve Robertson's combine. And I think Whitley (pre knee injury) was second, btw.

The way I understood it was that Chad and Chris were both really good football players. Chad was the obviously better overall athlete. And possibly the better QB. But if you were to put Chad in at QB, there wasn't a natural spot for Chris to play. TE maybe, but Chris is a much better QB than TE. So in order to have both guys on the field at the same time, they moved Chad to multifaceted WR to allow Chris the QB spot.

But look at the few games where Chris was out with concussion...see how Chad did at QB. And be amazed.

Probably worth taking a chance on as a walk-on. If he causes any problems at all, you just boot him and you've lost nothing. If he sucks, you either boot him or keep him on as a walk-on. And if he's any good and doesn't cause problems, you play him and give him a scholarship in a couple of years.</p>

Some high school coaches that coached against Tupelo told me that Tupelo was a better team and harder to defend w/ Bumphis at QB
