The reality is that just about every school in a P5 conference is spending big bucks on their football program and most fans of most of those schools expect good to great results. The problem, however, is that the P5 schools play each other in, and out of, conference, and only one of them can win any given game. That's to say that every time two P5 schools face off a highly paid football coach loses a game .... every freaking time.
My point? There ain't nothing special about having a coach who makes millions of dollars each season. It's just par for the course. And its delusional for fans to think their program should be better just because they spend the big bucks.
But that fact won't change the understanding of many fans who simply believe they are entitled to a successful to a very successful football program just because their school is dumping loads of money into a football program.
Do I want a successful football program. Absolutely yes!
But I have no freaking idea why our program should automatically be better than a lot of other programs who are spending big bucks on football.
