Blatant fake injuries have been around for a long time, ever since the hurry up offenses got real popular.

I think it was Auburn a few years back, they had two guys on defense line up, then fall over injured.

This takes the cake though.

It's one thing for a player to lay on the ground a bit longer than necessary after a play and feign an injury. That's been around, probably as long as football's been around. But the fake injuries have really taken off this year and become much more egregious and obvious.

Nothing was as bad this one though. Player clearly looks to the sideline to take a signal to fake an injury.

The only way to curtail this issue is to implement some kind of ruling, that if a player goes down to "injury", they must sit out a certain number of plays. I don't think 1 play would be enough to discourage this behavior, but if you implement 2-3 plays (or more), that may put a damper on the blatant fake injuries.

I also have been saying this for a while but the player should have to sit out the remainder of that series

bingo… Ole Miss has already said they’re going to go fast this week, we need to fake injuries every other snap and treat them to their own game. I hate it, but Lane in teams have been the instigators of this tactic for years. I’m perfectly fine with slowing them down using fake injuries.

What about the fake offensive PI penalties? Need to review those as well. I know they can't be reviewed but even the commentators are baffled by these calls

I'm speaking of a review by the SEC Head of Officials. Is this another directive similar to protecting the QB even when he becomes a defender? Rarely seen this called and all of a sudden, we lead the league in offensive PI penalties.

Easiest problem in football to remedy. Make the rule that any player who is "injured" and requires a stoppage of play or a stoppage of the clock must sit out until there is a change of possession. D player lays down to stop the hurry up, he is out until after his team has the ball.
