Is it just me...

or is this one of the most boring NFL seasons in a long time? I didn't watch a single game yesterday for the first time in years. I had no desire to. I looked at the scores after the fact to see that the Saints played like **** again. There are no "really good" teams. One team will play great one week and look like they had to have help putting their shoes on the next. Is it because of a looming strike? <div>
</div><div>It's almost like no one cares this year. The NFC is a joke again this year and the AFC heavyweights haven't exactly lit it up yet either.</div><div>
</div><div>Or... maybe it's just me. Maybe college football is so good this year that I just can't get into the NFL for some reason.</div>

I think my attention is more focused on college football this year, especially since we still have a chance to go bowling. Either way, I care way more about MSU winning than I do any other team in the world. As long as we have a chance to do some things that's where my time and money will go.

1. State is playing for a bowl game, and there has been a good bit of parity in all the SEC games.
2A. I'm still on a Super Bowl high to care what happens this year.
2B. Apparently so are the Saints. They look like VERY average.
3. My Fantasy teams are all tanking badly. I'm finding all sorts of ways to lose this year.

If you have Redzone or Sunday Ticket, there were some real good games yesterday. If you were forced to watch the Saints game, not so much.

There has been parity for years, but this year its made the NFL more boring. Even the good teams are slopping it up every other week.

I'm going to have to pin part of the boredom on the NFL's front offices. While college football has expanded its offering, putting more and more games on TV every year, the NFL has not changed meaningfully since the invention of Monday Night Football. By in large, the NFL tells you to watch the few games they're going to broadcast to your TV and then tells you you're going to have to like it. Well sorry, its 2010 now and that **** doesn't fly anymore. Entertainment technology this century has empowered consumers with choice - choice that the NFL still isn't offering and its got consumers feeling bored or underwhelmed with the NFL's product.

And speaking of college football, the 2010 college football season has been highly entertaining. Not just to MSU fans. There have been a lot of exciting games and drama across the country.

A lot of that drama has been driven by player emotion. College football player are just more passionate about their game than NFL players are. CFB guys have a few years to play and that's it. None of them will ever play CFB again and most will never play pro either. So the pride and emotion that CFB players have over the NFL is obvious on the field and that envelops the fans as well.
