From ESPN:

Mississippi State will hire Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen to be its next head football coach, ESPN.com has learned from sources close to the search.

An announcement is expected later Wednesday. Terms of the deal are not known.

Mullen

Mullen fits the profile Mississippi State was searching for: a high-energy personality, a strong recruiter and an offensive background. In addition, Mullen knows the SEC after four years working with Urban Meyer in Gainesville -- something that gave him an advantage over another high-profile offensive coordinator interviewed for the job, Oklahoma's Kevin Wilson.

Both have good offenses and experience. I like the fact Mullen has SEC experience - I do think that offers him an edge. I think comparing Forida's and Oklahoma's offenses is as close to splitting hairs as you can get.

Alex Smith, Chris Leak, Tim Tebow. Maybe in a couple years we can add Tyler Russel to the list.

I think that is what happend. SEC experience paid off.

If you notice, Mullen spoke to Veazy, and said he had interest and acted like he wanted to be here. And from the articles I have read about him, he is well prepared.

Maybe it was Wilson winning the Broyles award, or maybe it was just the direction things went on here for the past few days, but it seemed like the consensus preference would be Wilson over Mullen.

Byrne might've indeed let them compete for it and Mullen won outright.

The MS is great,

SEC experience is very undervalued

Tyler Russell a given now?
