Like a lot of you, in fact, most of you, I'm not happy the way the football program is going. I have had season tickets since I moved back here in 1974 from Seattle, so my son and daughter could go to UK, just as I did. I have three Grandkids there at the present time.
I remember when Barnhart hired Coach Stoops. We looked at the job he had done at Florida State as the DC and other places he had coached. There was euphoria! Most of us thought we had finally hired a good coach, based on his past. Then when Barnhart give him the big contract, most of us were happy, even though he had not done a lot on the field. He had done a good job recruiting, so we were excited. I was no different then most of the posters on here. I thought we finally had a winner for a coach. Most of you felt the same way, even though you probably won't admit it now. Think about this! What if he had been successful and Mitch hadn't locked him in with that contract, and he left UK for another school, what would most of you be saying. I can tell you. Mitch should have locked him in, would have been what you were screaming. Whether you like Mitch Barnhart or not, he is a class person. I guarantee you he thought he was hiring the right person, just as most of us thought. Calling him names does no good, and if I was a potential AD, after reading some of the BS, I sure wouldn't want to come to UK. This would probably be true for a coach. No, I'm damn sure not a WIMP, but at 77 years young, I realize it's only a game, and yes, I love UK just as much as anyone. When I was flying with Northwest Airlines, I give up a lot of money to listen to Caywood while I was in the air over the East Coast.
I can stand the BS I'm going to get, just don't tell me I don't love UK.

I am sure mitch, stoops and Elliot are all nice guys...and had not intentions of the program heading in this direction.
But, Mitch is paid big bucks to not make major financial screw ups like this...THAT is his job. There could have been contingencies in the buyout, many clauses that would allow us to move on, if Stoops success did not continue...
A corporation answering to stockholders and losing this kind of $$ would fire him in a heartbeat.
and as always...willie, thanks for your service

No one is questioning if they are nice guys. They may even be fun to hang out with BUT they are not paid to be nice guys.

If you flew Northwest I'm sure that I have been on more than one of your flight and I thank you for uneventful hour in the air.
However, when MB gave MS that new contract there were not six people in the state of Kentucky that favored that mishap.

Two things - there weren't any other schools when he got the extension. There any openings at the time.

And my pet peeve is this nonsense about recruiting rankings. That is nothing but hype. I asked an SEC coach years ago how his recruiting class went. He said - "I'll let you know in three years". That was the last time I ever asked a question like that. Marrow is a snake oil salesman. How many difference makers has he brought in?

I have never questioned Stoops' character. It's his coaching that has put himself in this position. When you are paid millions of dollars, you better deliver results. He hasn't and in fact he is going backwards. College football is big business like many others. He would have been fired already in the business world for his results. Once again, it's not personal, its business.

Classy people don't piss down your leg, then tell you its raining. Classy people also don't call their long suffering fans , many of which have invested a lot of time and money to support a perennial loser, microwave fans. Classy people respect those said fans more than that. Classy people, or classy A.D., if you will, don't write instigating letters, like a grade schooler to inflame their fans, after upsetting Tennessee for the first time in forever, in an attempt to justify another lousy coaching hire he made. Just because you wear a Christian tag doesn't make you classy. If that's being classy, I'll settle for less class.

A very good friend of mine's son played and started for Cincinnati when Butch Jones was their head coach. My buddy told me Jones was the biggest prick he ever met. But guess what? He has won everywhere he ever coached.....

I think most of it is the hard headedness of stoops unwillingness to make obvivous changes. DC, OL, DL and Barnhardt giving him an extension which hog ties UK to Stools as hes running over the cliff.

If your a die hard UK fan which i think you are i think you should understand this.

Don't worry, Stoops will make coaching changes and he and Mitch will tell us about how he's finally assembled the perfect staff to get it done. After all, WE'RE JUST GETTING STARTED BRO!!!
