Is it still 5-1? I can't get the SC live stats to load.

imploding in bot 8th. 3 runs in runner on 2nd and still no one out. 8-6. This will be a top 5 choke job here we lose this one.

Yes, you're already looking for contact no matter what, but there's also a high probability that the pitcher wastes one. Doesn't seem like a good time at all.

Usually you hit and run when you are ahead in the count. 2-1 is the "ideal" hit and run count.

It was a hit-and-run, but SC had the pitchout on. It sucks, but it was a great call by them.
That was a terrible pitch out then (although they got the runner). And either way why would we hit and run 0-2 and then the batter not even attempt to protect runner?

I'm sure we have a much detailed scouting report. SC may have a tendancy to throw outer half fastballs in 0-2 counts. That would be ideal for a hit & run. Maybe our report showed something about that certain pitcher, I don't know. I do know that these guys aren't doing things like that because they thought off the top of their head "let's try to get something going with a hit & run right here 0-2," just because. I wonder why people get on here and try to justify when things that go wrong exactly what the right move "WOULD HAVE BEEN." I read a great quote from Jim Tressell's book today on the bus to our game today that said "you always have the right answer when you aren't in charge."</p>

a missed sign by the runner who is a freshman walk-on.

that is most likely the answer. Good thing it didn't matter.
