The past 4 years have been brutal. It feels almost like someone hit a giant reset button and sentenced us to a complete rebuild.

All big 3 sports have not only been below average, they have looked helplessly outmatched, out-coached, and out classed. Horrible fundamentals and coaches who sleepwalk through blowouts, as if some maroon clad Jerry Reinsdorf assured them their jobs are safe since we’re all sentenced to 40 years wandering the desert any17ingway.

If baseball season takes another shlt on us this year, I may buy Raiders season tickets just so I can punch my way out of the stadium to blow off that steam.

3 years. 4 years includes Leach’s last year and Jans’ first which were great.

Funny how it really started heading downhill about the time Cohen left and Selmon showed up.

You have to be patient with Selmon. In a state with Mississippi’s history, having a Black AD like Selmon isn’t just symbolic, it’s transformative. Because of that he’s already the best AD State’s ever had. Think about it, outside of him just being a brilliant young mind, by him being black he brings an unmatched resilience and grit to this role that we’ve never had- Black leaders in America have been overcoming systemic barriers, doubters, and outright sabotage for generations- including negative posts like yours here. If you continue to criticize him in any way, I agree that you should be banned.
If Selmon weren’t black, he’d be great. But because he is, he’s the best we’ve ever had here- period.

You must be white? If white folks stopped critiquing and started appreciating, they’d see Selmon’s not just an AD, he’s a movement.all movements need

Any poster on SixPackSpeak who dares to call or insinuate that Zac Selmon is or was a DEI hire, should be permanently banned, just like that racist Bulldoghair was yesterday. By your comment here about DEI, you’re perpetuating white supremacy by questioning whether a brilliant black man with NFL royalty bloodlines, a master’s degree, and a proven track record at Oklahoma deserves to run an athletic department. The audacity to imply that his hire was anything other than pure merit is harmful rhetoric that creates an unsafe space for others like him in Starkville. Anyone that defends these bigoted posts or comments like yours, is complicit. If you stay silent and scroll on by, you’re complicit. We should be proud, and step up and protect our black ADs at all costs, especially our own.

1) He probably was/is with some admitted qualifications. Who cares if he does a good job?
3) I think you should revisit the meaning of term bigotry.
4) All races, genders, ages, intellectual fortitude should be held to the same standard.
5) Explain why Rankin (Jackson), Fayette/Desoto (Memphis), Williamson (Nashville), counties are different than the metro areas…think long and hard.

1) You just admitted Selmon is qualified AND doing a good job, but you STILL want to slap the DEI label on him like it’s a slur? You’re literally saying “sure he’s good, but he’s Black so it doesn’t count.
3) Bigotry is prejudice and discrimination based on race. You are literally discriminating against Selmon’s accomplishments by reducing them to his race. That’s the definition.
4) Then HOLD HIM TO THE SAME STANDARD. He’s raising millions, upgrading facilities, hiring a winning baseball coach, and you’re STILL trying to delegitimize him with a three letter dog whistle. If a white AD did the exact same thing you’d be calling him a genius. The double standard is YOU.
5) I don’t need to think long and hard to see that you’re doing racist geography cosplay.
6) You need to be banned

Come on, y’all settle down. Leave social arguments to another thread. So far, I have been impressed with Zac Selmon and his effort to bring State to relevance in a cash crazy college environment. He exhibits class and intelligence in everything I have seen of him. He has found money in a place that doesn’t have a Mark Cuban-like booster. He is wearing maroon. That’s all that matters.

Bruh you stuck in 1997, like most of the other idiot boomers and Gen X’s around Jackson. I think we’ve all know and have accepted the reality at this point, but most people have decided to move on.

Move on from what? What have “we” accepted, “bruh?” And, quite frankly, 1997 was a great year. Did I miss some sort of social upheaval?

Your OG a^^ ain’t sending your kids (or grandkids) to Provine because of the test scores? I’m not from Jackson, don’t particularly like Jackson, nor do I have a dog in the Jackson fight. I simply gave examples of failing school/social systems I’ve seen through the years. The only thing worse than being a social justice warrior is pretending to be one.

Difference in you and I is I accept things as they are and I try to find a solution. We all knew this stuff 30 years ago. It is what it is.

It’s also stupid to ignore the fact that cities go blue and bluer. They are also economic engines. Anywhere that happens will attract people and eventually go more liberal. It’s the nature of people. Somehow or another we’re all going to have to find a way to coexist.

That doesn’t mean giving shlt up either, and unfortunately that’s what so many conservatives do - move away and give things up, then complain about it.

Eventually we gonna run out of land.

Assuming you are serious (and that’s a struggle):

1) You’re saying he’s good only BECAUSE he’s black? Hypocrisy defined.
3) In no way, shape, or form, now or at any point in human history, has bigotry been watered down to equal simple racism. However, you’ve managed to reduce his accomplishments to a skin color? Odd.
4) If you think Larry, Scott, or ANYONE prior wasn’t given adequate crap on this board, your IQ is less than 80 or you have dementia. Get tested.
5) Crime statistics are publicly available. I mentioned nothing about race.
6) Your logic is (1) laughable and, if true, (2) the reason Mississippi elects Bennie Thompson.

You’re right. It can’t be fixed. “It is what it is.”

So you’re offering solutions from your compound on Capitol Street? Got it! Ready for my orders, Captain America! Can I man a machine gun nest? Outside of the plywood business for downtown Jackson, I’m not seeing the economic opportunities? You obviously have a plan! Are you in the House?

Nope. I have no solution. But I’m also not scared to go inside Jackson city limits. and I don’t constantly complain about the reality.

You ARE though, in fact, being trolled by ye ole noodle and too arithmetically inclined to notice it.

I think Selmon has done alright. The fundraising he has been able to do for a bad football team has been pretty impressive.

Great? probably not. Bad? far from it.

I don’t miss much, OG. But I am proud of your incredibly brave endeavors into Hinds County’s Jackson proper. Although I’m not sure what you’d need to do there outside of a pickup order from Martin’s?
