Should this really be put to rest? I spoke with KV late last night and he didnt totally rule him out. I really believe there is a good shot for him to make the journey to starkville and at least seriously consider AFTER he finds out where his team will be in the bowl. I do believe he wanted the Notre Dame position but since they are not making a change he knows the pressure is not as high to come to state now that BSU has alot higher expectations for their program.

Petersen has had several coaching friends across the country tell him to stay away from Starkville. He can't win here. He wasn't coming ever, no matter how much money was thrown at him. It was decided a couple of days ago. Why no one has had the balls to pass this on so far, I have no idea. Bless Greg Byrne's heart for still working it but Petersen WAS NEVER COMING. He was being nice to to an old friend. Naturally, no one got on the phone to call Byrne and tell him. Good grief, can we shut the $@#+ up about him now? Tommy Bowden will be a good hire.
His friends that have supposedly told him to stay away arent even true. Who tells a friend to turn down that kind of money!!!!! Apperntly none of you have ever had a chance to improve your lifestyle monetarily as well as taking a decent football team to another level. I guess these friends also told him not to take the Boise State job as well. " who can win at an university where the football field is blue>>> makes so much sense!!!!

Do we really want a guy who has publicly said he did not want the job when we offered to double his pay?</p>
nobody knows what the pay was to be. im just saying never say never. MSU is not as bad of a job to take as many on here think it is. Most on here want a burnt out coach who supposely, just might want the job. I say nay, GB is a good salesman of the program and nothing should be counted out.

of the situation with the "impatient fans" part. In fact, aside from Vandy, there is no more patient fan base in the conference and we have one of the more patient fan bases around period. Heck, if you can win 6 to 8 games routinely at MSU even with the clunker 4 to 5 win season thrown in here and there, then there will likely be a statue erected to you on campus somewhere. How many other places is that true. I don't know of anywhere in the country where a coach can keep putting up 3 to 4 win seasons as the norm, field arguably the worst offense in the country and keep his job, especially when the pay just got raised to 1.7 mil.
