Is Romo now the best back-up in the league?

Can't think of a better one.

On an unrelated note, you think the Bronco's made the right call not signing Brock to all that money? Holy crap, what a disaster that contract is going to be. Who could have possibly seen that coming? Besides most people I mean.

Couple of thoughts:

1. I do believe the Cowboys should trade Romo. Although talented, he has shown time and time again to not get the job done and the chemistry going on with Dak now is pretty impressive. They can get a ton of value for Romo with teams in desperate need of a QB.

2. We don't know that Brock is a bust. He certainly has some natural skills and could turn into a pretty good QB yet. Remember, he has basically played a half of a season - not many greats were "great" after a half season. I'm not saying he's a lock, but it's way too early to also call him a bust.

If you were a Texan fan, would you be optimistic, or really bummed? I think he sucks for a starter and I'm betting the Texans brass are having a lot of "Oh crap, what did we do, AGAIN"? kind of thoughts.

Wonder if they regret passing on Carr?

Yup, but in all honesty I can't blame them. Really tough to draft the brother of a bust, or near bust. I know he was serviceable (equivalent to "she's got a great personality") but nowhere near the #1 overall pick. So I get why they did it, but to answer your question I think Carr is a better QB than Brock, but so are many other QB's in the league.

I'm not a Cowboys fan, but the choice is obvious. You play Dak. If that means that deal Romo then you do what you got to do. I'm not sure that Romo has a whole lot of value left. He's been injured a lot and he's getting up there in age. It's only 6 games in, but Dak has got it. Tony will make a great backup. Injuries happen all the time. Look at the Huskers.

Good situation for the Cowboys. As for the Broncos, they have more than QB worries, their offensive line needs to get better in a hurry. They had chances to win in both their losses, but the glaring weakness is up front. And I hope they get rid of Demaryius Thomas after this year, he's seen better days and it's time to trade him off for some help up front.

Cowboys fan here. This a great "problem" to have. Let Romo heal up for another 3 weeks, then make some decisions. Trading him is absurd. The Cowboys have all of the parts to make a run, so keep that QB depth.

Romo would bring next to nothing in a trade right now, no way they trade him before season's end. I think most people who talk about a trade mean after the season, at least I hope so. Trading him now would be beyond stupid, and it isn't like Romo can be mad about losing his spot, he's watching the same thing we are and the Cowboys have made him a very rich man.

At first I thought there was no way Romo wouldn't get the starting job back. Now I feel like it doesn't matter either way. That offensive is just downright nasty and helps Dak out soo much. Also Zeek is keeping pressure off Dak as well.

Pros with Romo
1. Veteran leadership
2. Playoff experience
3. Can throw the long ball better than Dak
4. Playbook will be more wide open with Romo.

Cons with Romo
1. Will be rusty
2. Gunsligger mentality
3. Health

I know Romo certainly has the wealthiest Back Specialist in the league.

I'm not so sure Romo isn't done being a bigtime QB. Painkillers can do a lot, but you're talking about a guy who broke his back twice. Granted they were a lot older, but I don't know anyone who has broken their back and gone back to ever being 100% again.

He will play again, but I would be very surprised if he ever is back to a high level and staying healthy.

It will be interesting who to see what happens with Romo and the loser of the Bridgewater/Bradford combo next year. I guess it is entirely possible Bridgewater may not even be ready by next year.

A stroke of genius/luck by Jerruh Jones.
Yeah, they tried really hard to trade up and draft Paxton Lynch but the Seahawks were able to get a little more out of the Broncos. I know Jerry said afterwards he regretted not pulling the trigger but it has worked out. Would be really hard to pull Dak now and can't imagine Romo has any real trade value.

Cowboys got a franchise QB, Franchise Rb, a cornerstone stone DL in Collins and a future starting Nickel back.

Incredible draft by the cowboys
