Is signing a QB a MUST for this class???

With Smokey Favre leaving us to go to PRCC, we currently only have 2 scholarship QB's, Tyler Russell and Dak Prescott. We also currently have ZERO QB's committed to sign with us. I have been hearing we were in good shape with the Wallace kid from EMCC, but not Ole Miss is leading for him, they also lead for Liggins and are bringing in another QB from Tennessee as well.

Is it just me but do you guys think we need to sign a QB in this year's class? It seems as if we swing and miss on every QB we ever try to get (With Prescott being the exception due to us offereing him early and LSU having 3 QBs committed that year)

If we don't sign a QB I'm a little worried about our depth at that position going into next fall.

Mostly lurk to see what Coach34 has to say from time to time.

Im just shaking my head that our coaching staff can't land a decent QB. It amazes me that schools like Vandy (Cutler) and TCU (Dalton) can produce NFL starting QBs, and we can't even find an SEC caliber signal caller.

Russell may have a all world year this fall and prove me wrong, but I just wish we had some depth at the position. We are 2 sprained ankles away from BIG trouble.

I think you see us missing on QB's this year is because we didn't start recruiting one until 2 months ago. We were way behind because it wasn't a need of ours till Favre left. Next year I see this changing after Dan has a full year or two on whoever his target is to sign.

You believe that the OM people in Oxford would allow Liggins to go anywhere but Ole Miss?
when they say he doesnt want to go to Oxford if they sign Wallace- he was on a visit there this weekend- and didnt commit. That should tell you something

We were hard and heavy after Voytik... just lost out on him. We've been on Liggins just as hard. The lack of Plan B guys is nonexistent however because of what you said, if we didn't get our Plan A's we weren't going to sign one. That changed when Farve left, obviously.

You need to sign a QB every year. Even with Favre, that still only gives us 3. And you can pretty much count on someone leaving the program for one reason or another at some point. Only reason not to sign a QB is if you've got 4 coming back that you're satisfied with. Mullen screwed up by waiting until the transfer to start trying to recruit a QB.

I don't follow recruiting very much because I find it nauseating. I just guessed why we were missing. I guessed wrong.

i know it isn't you, but these people thinking mullen is poo pooing the signing of a qb is wrong.

We have been after a qb all year, we also had 3 on roster until the week after the egg bowl so we weren't just going to sign one to sign one
we went after 5 i know of ...bauta, winston, bench, liggins, alford, and voytik were all at camps
and it seemed like we were after liggins and alford ...favre transfers and we offer wallace

we didn't just start calling qb's when favre left, we offered another qb though
and talk of a qb on this board picked up because it was a critical need

I mean if he was actively recruiting Voytik, Alford, Winston, Bauta, etc....NONE of them are even going to visit.

The only QB we have lined up for a Visit doesnt even project as a QB (Liggins) and Im HIGHLY doubtful that he even gets out of Oxford to visit us.

We had our chance with Wallace but let MR. Freeze work his magic on him.

I really believe Dan needs to loosen up in terms of recruiting and stop being hard *** saying you have to "WORK HARD" and "EARN A SPOT" and start kissing a little ***. It seems to be working for other programs.

well winston ...is out of our league
Bauta was committed to UGA before Favre transferred and I am not sure we even offered him
Voytik chose Pitt over MSU ...think he is in medical field ...after Graham left Pitt, interest was check but he was solid at Pitt
Alford is to big of a risk at this point with only 2 qb rostered, to me I would rather spend time and energy on a qb that you know will be here for sure

I don't think Wallace is going to ole miss. I think he is going to be at MSU, when it is over.

You can say Liggins doesn't project as a qb, but for the most critical year next year while he would plan to come in and learn ...he could be serviceable as a QB

I couldn't disagree more with the last statement: I really believe Dan needs to loosen up in terms of recruiting and stop being hard *** saying you have to "WORK HARD" and "EARN A SPOT" and start kissing a little ***. It seems to be working for other programs.
I don't want the players running the team, we had that last couple of years in basketball and they were dumpster fires... ole miss promises the world to their players and right now they are a dumpster fire ...we may not be at the level of bama and lsu were some want, but we haven't been as successfull as those programs it takes a lot of work and consistently winning to get to those levels ...our guys need to work their *** off, have you watched the ms-al hs allstar games the last five years ms ath are not on the level of la and al as a whole ...ms ath need to rs and develop and that is what we are doing

Are you serious? Here you go, Stansbury sucks, Russell sucks. Now you don't have to get on here anymore. Hopefully you were being sarcastic.

Tuff it out. Mullen is at the helm. Some **** he does is going to leave you scratching your head. But he isnt going to give one 17ing cent or one false promise to a qb.

Might do it for other positions. But not qb.
