My site has us -26 1/2and BYU -3 w/ 5% juice instead of the standard 10%. I'm about to bet it.

My betting experience has always been that if it looks like free money, it probably is...for your bookie.

That's why I don't gamble anymore on sports. I gave away way too much free money.

That said, if there is one bet I would feel most comfortable with taking, it's any bet where I get to take MSU over Memphis at anything less than 30 points. I just don't see how your 2nd team wouldn't be able to cover 28. That said, that game will be a good test of my free money theory. You'll probably win 38-14 now.

Seeing these two games involve Ole Miss and MSU, I'd say stay away. Even if you think you are being objective, there's likely some bias in your thinking.

Honestly, I wouldn't touch the BYU game with a 10 foot pole. BYU could easily abuse Ole Miss secondary. However, Ole Miss still is an SEC team and will be physical. They could end up controlling the clock with their ground game and pull of the W just as easily. It could go either way - especially being the first game of the season.

<div>Kentucky -20 vs Western KY (Nashville) (Western KY is not good, and UK did beat them 63-28 last year)</div><div>
</div><div>Florida International -13.5 vs North Texas (FIU is improving, picked to win the Sun Belt Conference)</div><div>
</div><div>Syracuse -6.5 vs Wake Forest (Syracuse will be improved, Wake is not good, maybe the worst in the ACC)</div><div>
</div><div>Ohio State -33 vs Akron (big line, but Ohio State will be out to prove themselves and show no mercy, Akron is the worst team in the MAC, too)</div><div>
</div><div>Louisiana Tech +14 @ Southern Miss (can't remember right now, but some research I did over a week ago made me take this, as with all these other picks--edit--USM did just barely beat them 17-16 last season)</div><div>
</div><div>Indiana -6.5 vs Ball State (BSU is horrible, and Indiana beat up on their OOC opponents last year)</div><div>
</div><div>UL Lafayette +37 @ Oklahoma State (Hudspeth won't lose by that much, OkState replacing OC and WR coaches, and OSU plays Arizona 5 days later)</div><div>
</div><div>Missouri -17 vs Miami (Ohio) (Mizzou won 51-13 last year, and Mizzou will be improved)</div><div>
</div><div>Northwestern +3 @ Boston College (Dan Persa is back and NW is a much better team with him, BC's best RB is out)</div><div>
</div><div>
</div><div>Haven't yet sprung for MSU -27.5 at Memphis, but might before game time. I don't like picking for MSU--if we lose (or in this case, don't cover), then I'm doubly pissed. I usually will pick for OM to win and for State to lose. If State wins the game, I feel like I helped 'buy' the win. If State loses, well, at least I got some money. And the opposite for OM. This week, I have OM +3 vs BYU. If BYU wins, I'll still be happy. (it would REALLY be cool if OM lost by less than 3)</div><div>

Those are just the teams that we know the most about. We know (or we think we have an idea) about their strengths and weaknesses. I bet against State and on UM all the time and I think in the long run i would say that I'm up. Especially bettingagainst us from '02 -'08. Hell from that time period I almost quit my job.

MedDawg: I like your picks and the reasons why, please keep posting throughout the season. Thanks

I want to be around 50 on Memphis/State game. No way we don't win by 25. What is the best site to bet? Do you have to pay a fee of any kind? Never have bet on anything before.

I like betus.com (see my post in the link below). There is no fee--you deposit money into an account with them and make your bets out of it. So there's no losing bets and having to come up with the money on Monday or lose your kneecaps. Not only is there no fee, but you get bonuses for signing up and making your first deposit (and possibly with later deposits, if you have a good customer representative). You might be able to get up to a $1 bonus for every $1 deposited. That's free money to bet with.<div>

Baylor +7 versus TCU at Baylor (i got it +7, is see where at most sites it is down to +6.5)
TCU only returns something like 5 defensive starts and 3 on offense. They will be good , but something like an 8-4 or 9-3 type ballclub . Baylor returns 10 on offense and Robert Griffin III.

My favorite pick is Notre Dame -10versus South Florida.
I know the Irish is usually overated, but I do like their club with Crist returning as well as Mike Floyd.

My thoughts on the opening weekened. Someone please tell me if I am crazy...

First off I HATE ND -10 against SF. Not sure how you think this is your favorite game. USF can compete with anyone. They may get a late score and cover it, but I wouldnt put that as my #1 opening weekend.

My game that I like is ECU +20.5 against South Carolina. For the life of me I cant see them covering. I am hoping this game will be +22 by game time.

The line had moved to MSU -28.5, so I bought 1/2 point. Dang waiting too long. I made my other picks earlier in this thread about 3 weeks ago, and many of them have moved to worse positions, so I was smart/lucky to hit them early.
