Yes, this pic has to be early 50s I'd sayLooks like that one still has the train tracks.
I think I saw on IG it was 1949.Yes, this pic has to be early 50s I'd say
Late 70s or early 80s we sat in the south endzone stands. I remember balling up cups and throwing them at the opposing players who were lining up to run on the field. This looks way before my time but there used to be bleachers in both N and S Endzones.
Both endzone seating was taken out when work was started on the new locker rooms and M Club building in the S EZ which I think was at the end of the 1983 season.
It’s cool they put rails in the junction sidewalks to mark where they came through.Looks like that one still has the train tracks.
That's the solution! Black and white tv cameras only, going forward.Good looking crowd. We must have been playing Bama or Tennessee!
Old Main didn't burn until January 1959Yes that picture was before 1949. Old Main was still there. My dad graduated 1949.
Awesome pic!
Edited: to say my dad use to talk about those railroad trips from Ms. gulf coast to Starkville when he was in school. He did not have a car.
I was 5 and saw it still smoldering the next morning. Never forgot it.Old Main didn't burn until January 1959
I never saw the place full like that when I was in school. Of course, we only had a couple of games during the season then and they were minor games. I can't remember if there was a berm in the south end zone or not, but at that time there was no need for anything other than the two sides. Capacity was around 32,000.Good looking crowd. We must have been playing Bama or Tennessee!

That pic there, looks like bleachers, with a dark shadow.(B & W)I don't think that is a hill. I think those are bleachers that kind of look like a hill because of shadows and early 20th century photograph technology. I know those are bleachers on the north end under the scoreboard. I've seen pictures of those. This photo was taken before we added the east side concrete struture. I bet the ever frugal Mississippi State put some of the old east side bleachers in the south endzone when that was done.

Pretty sure that was only NFL. I think college has always been back of the end zone.Didn't the goalposts used to be right on the goal line? In this picture, they're 10 yards deep like they are now.
my thoughts exactly.Old Main was a giant of a building. Great pic.
