is the SEC approaching the wild days of the Big 12?

It's getting wild and nasty out there. Worse than HD6's belly button.

I just know if we go on probation before Ole Miss does then I will lose my ****.

If we get busted for a booster paying for a set of tires and they skate after this recruiting season, I will lose all faith in humanity.

It's out of control. The rest of the world is going to gang up soon and then the **** will hit the fan.

Suits the **** outta me for Mississippi to be the one with their sansabelts down around their ankles with a vice grip on their johnson when the cop's flashlight sweeps in to see what's up.

How much does being able to cheat with impunity have to do with 7 (or is it 8?) titles in a row for the SEC? I'd have to guess a whole hell of a lot. We already know for a fact of one particular championship (and Heisman) that was bought and paid for.

Approached & passed...

...from what I can tell from the last 2-3 years, the NCAA's current role in SEC [football] recruiting is to turn a blind eye & stay out of the way. SEC football has become a money-making giant on many different levels, so the perks of that status is now being played out before us.

Except for a few isolated cases (North Carolina), the NCAA is turning a blind eye on all football recruiting. Miami gets a pass. Ohio St. got off real light. They would have probably gotten a pass if the e-mails that proved their head coach was actively covering their cheating up.

I wouldn't say a bowl ban is getting off light. Especially since they went 12-0 this year and couldn't do anything but sit at home.

And Miami might get off with a slap on the wrist. But only because the NCAA screwed up the investigation by paying shapiro's attorney to get them info from witnesses while they were under oath.

I'm not really sure what you'd expect them to get.

You must not realize how bad the SWC really was. The problem there was that all but 1 school was in Texas, so the alums all had to look their rivals in the eyes in the boardroom and at the country club. We have some of that in the SEC, but not to the same extent. The result was open bidding wars for players -- players receiving cars, and then giving the cars back for better cars from a different school. Players basically agreeing to a monthly stipend for their whole playing career. Plus, they didn't have the same scholarship restrictions back then, so it was open bidding on every recruit.
