with his MS ties, obvious intelligence, and understanding of how to turn Mississippi talent into M State production, might be the catalyst for us to move into consistent national prominence in all sports?

but there is no reason why we can't win 7-9 games on a consistent basis. That will be nice, but it won't bring us "national prominence."<div>
</div><div>Stans has already made us a top 5 SEC basketball program, and given the money the other schools have to throw at hoops compared to us, that isn't bad. We still have disadvantages in baseball because of the lottery situation, but we can still be top 25 consistently in that sport as well. Cohen is on his way to putting us there on a yearly basis. He had a big hole to dig out of.</div>

I don't know about everyone else, but the feeling I have about our program is very different than the feeling I had when we won in the past. You almost knew it was a cycle in the past, and that it would eventually hit a down slide...but it doesn't feel like that to me right now. We may very well take a turn for the worse and make me eat these words, but I think if there was ever a time for our program to take one of those Virginia Tech or Oregon type of steps forward, we have the right people in place now from a leadership standpoint. I like our coaches, our AD, and our marketing...and it looks like recruiting is going to take a step forward this year too.

Now excuse me, I have a date with some sheep shears.

He's branding MSU to the entire state, and I think we are going to reap the benefits of that in recruiting for a long time. We will never become a national fan base, but I think we are becoming one that people will start to talk about on a consistent basis.

Between the stadium expansion coming, new facilities in football and basketball, branding the Egg Bowl like we did, and the endzone Twitter hashtag, I think Stricklin is really pushing our university into a new era of sports at MSU. He just plain gets it, and he has a university President that is 100% behind him, and a football coach that is 100% behind him. If we can keep that 3 headed monster together, I think MSU will do great things in sports, as well as the university as a whole getting some major exposure. </p>
