I would think if we win the West even with our RPI being what it is - we host. I've read where some say we might not.

Winning the West will have very little impact. If we just get on fire (5/6 from UT, UA and get to Sunday in Hoover) we could host and would probably win the West too. Our RPI would be low 20s I guess. I want to say last year the regional hosts were the top 16 RPI teams.

So, you're saying there IS a chance?

Agree ...

With 6 games remaining, we host UT and travel to Bama. Gotta think that by winning the West outright, we would host

Because to 'win the West,' we have to win at least two more games than Ole Miss (they play Georgia and are @ A&M), AND stay ahead of LSU (currently 1/2 game back from State); they host Bama and are @ Auburn), PLUS stay ahead to A&M that has just won 7 of last 10 (@ Ark & host OM)

OM, LSU & A&M also hold 'tie-breakers' with State.

Hold on, gonna be a ride!!

Not a chance in this world we host. Winning the West means nothing. Best our RPI could get is mid to upper 20s even if we sweep both series remaining. That won't be good enough. We just dug ourselves too big a hole with way too many bad non-conference losses.

Holy Cross is a tremendous obstacle (their RPI is 271)... Only made worse by JSU. Those two things alone will keep us from hosting. Our only chance at a long shot is winning out and taking a couple in Hoover... And I believe that's a long shot.

We've played strong on the road, as of late... I'd almost rather be a 2 seed because we have done a pretty terrible job taking care of business at home.

Take away our 5 bad nonconference losses and we are in the national seed discussion. We didn't take care of business against the teams we should've beaten outside the SEC, and that will probably cost us hosting.
