Is there anyway Masoli is effective this year?

I know the guy has talent, but here's my case for why he won't be very good.

He has to learn a totally new playbook in 1 month

OM doesn't run the spread

He's got to get timing down with new WRs

The OL will have new blocking assignments to learn with a running QB
Maybe I'm missing something, but this is about what time Schaffer got into school and it was obvious thenthe practice time he missed really hurt him. I can't think of a guy transfering this late, then immediately putting up good numbers.

*edited because I'm "special"*

You're right. I was thinking he was suspended in 2009.

Still though, seems like a great deal to overcome. New players - new system - didn't go through spring or summer programs..

is his mobility. While learning the new system and developing timing, his mobility will help him out tremendously.

He basically has two full months before he has to play a big game. There are ZERO good defenses in those first 5. I think they can get him adjusted to the offense by then.

Masoli will have three major problems aside from the time of his arrival:
1. The offense he's gonna play in won't be as innovative as the one Chip Kelly put on the field at Oregon. I really think Masoli shined in that offense because of it's design and the team around him.
2. He won't have the type of running game that he had at Oregon to keep the heat off.....not to mention playing behind what appears to be a shaky Oline.
3. He'll be playing SEC defenses on a weekly basis. Add that fact together with points 1 & 2, and I don't think his speed will help him very much in the end.

Scheduling and that defense will allow for some flashes at times, but against a good team, not being able to move the ball on offensemeans a lot of snaps for your defense which is never a good thing.
