while I still stick with just calling them Mississippi, Mullen is just following in Jackie's footsteps in building the rivalry up like it should be. Like Jackie, its very important to Mullen to be the number 1 school in the state. He wants to build school spirit. He wants to build pride.

Let him do it
some OM people actually got upset about being called Mississippi. Here, no OM fan is upset about being called TTUN. Instead we are looking at it as an embarrassment for you school. But good ploy; I'm sure it will catch on and piss off OM fans at some point

especially when you stop and realize that we are talking smack to a team that beat the living **** out of us last year. oh and not to mention that they are a top 10 team this year. I would feel better about doing **** like this after we beat them.

we should only treat Ole Miss like a rival when we're better than them. Newsflash - some years we're better them and some years we're not. Frankly, I find it refreshing to have a coach who's willing to put a little swagger back in our team.

Sure, it's a little obsessive, but guess who's the first fanbase to talk about just about anything that goes on at State. Hint: it's not Florida.

Again, I wouldn't do it, but I'm going to give Mullen the benefit of the doubt until proven unworthy.

I think I may be one of the few but I do. I won't ever call them that but I like the idea of it for the football team and locker room.

I don't see anything wrong with it however I will agree about the picture. It does look gay.

Frankly, I think that this board's obsession with disliking it is kind of <17>ing stupid. Half of you are only saying anything at all because you feel it's the internet cool thing to do. If this gets the players ready to play the damn game versus what happened last year, then so be it.

When we come to Starkville this fall, will the scoreboard read "Ole Miss", "UM", or some other version of our real name, or will it read "TTUN"?

This is not a flame.

The signs are stupid. It basically looks like you haven't had much success in the Egg Bowl, so you are commerating those times you did win. You have won the Egg Bowl roughly 37% of the time. It would be like us putting up signs in our locker room commemerating our wins over LSU, a team we have beaten roughly 39% of the time.

The clock is much worse. Ever heard of looking ahead?

Your coach has your team focused on an opponent that you will not play for another 3.5 months. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you should concentrate in JSU, Auburn, and Vandy if he wants his team to look ahead. The 12th game is a long way away.

The first thing Tressell did at OSU was talk about the Michigan game. Its a rivalry. Its fun. And like he said, if its works with the players, who really gives a damn what anyone else thinks, especially ole miss fans.

If posters of Barney the Dinosaur fire them up, then plaster them everywhere.

Mullen has been game-planning for the Rebels since the Spring.

Seriously, why don't you worry about Ole Miss, and we'll worry about MSU. Mmmkay?

i'm pretty sure the egg bowl series is 9-9 since 1991, when the games returned to the campuses.

Talking it up = great

We all agree that both schools got more attention when the series was competitve.

Sign's & countdowns = stupid

I'm going to say that line play on both sides of the ball & QB play will have a great effect on the game than any motivational poster. When the two teams start punching each other in the mouth, it's dumb to think that some player is going to "dig deeper" because he remembers the clock. Save the **** talking for after a win. Like Many Happy Return billboards. Like when we made a play on said billboard on our jumbotron last season.

Of course. Don't completely change the discussion. Talent/skill is always more important. But if you think the mental aspect of the game is not important then you are kidding yourself. Mullen's not the only one with motivational signs. Everyone does it. Its just a locker room poster. As dumb as you think it is, its equally dumb to get worked up about it or diss it.

Calling us the !$!@ during alumni meetings is one thing, actually putting on billboards TTUN, is as gay as it gets.

Also, I think OP4 is right, are we !$!@ or the TTUN?

Are they going back and taking Ole Miss off banners? On the official schedule does it have Ole Miss? How long does this last? If Mullen gets fired in 4 years is the next coach stuck with this? Can you peel back the TTUN or do you have to get new posters and/or billboards?

At the end of the day, if Mullen goes 6-6 then no one will care if he starts calling us Ole Piss, but if he goes 3-9, the TTUN comments, will get old really quick.

It's a way for a new head coach to ingrain it the heads of all of our players (including entering freshmen from out of state that might not know a lot about the rivalry) the importance of the rivalry. I don't think it has anything to do with what happened last year, it's just simply the way for a new coach to show players the importance that traditional rivalries have in college football.

I think I've figured out why Mullen is putting so much emphasis on T.S.U.N or TTUN or whatever and in general why he is putting so much emphasis on the rivalry.

I think it's all related to his recruiting strategy, which is basically to recruit Mississippi. I don't know if that recruiting strategy will work, meaning I don't know if you can win consistently on Mississippi talent, but I think he's playing up the Egg Bowl and the rivalry because he thinks it will help him with his in-state recruiting to put so much emphasis on that one game.

That would actually make sense to me, and if the two are related, then I can definitely understand it.

You don't ******' say? Really? I mean, It never occured to me that putting emphasis on the game with your chief rival would help with recruiting.

Brilliant! Why doesn't EVERY OTHER ******' SCHOOL do that? Oh wait.
