Rule #1… always ring with the bell at least shoulder high!
Rule #2…always teach your kids to ring at least shoulder high!

I’ve always thought that ringing the bell held over your head and pointed up was wrong. The shape and direction of the bell projects the sound up and away from the field and your intended target. With the bell pointing downward the sound would be projected downward towards the playing field. We’re an engineering school, we need a study on different ringing techniques.
