“But I am still going to Mississippi State. It’s just like what my dad told me before he passed away. He said ‘son, the only thing you have in this world is your word’. I am committed to Mississippi State and that’s where I am going to school.”

If someone remembers where it ran please post. thanks.

An interview C.J. did with the Clarion Ledger has sent Mississippi State fans scurrying to message boards to find out more about Johnson's statements that he may not be 100% committed.
</p>

The talented linebacker reports his phone has been ringing all day, so he decided to call scout.com to make a statement.
</p>

"There is nothing to worry about," said Johnson. "I am still committed and I am going to stay committed. I am still trying to recruit guys to come to Mississippi State just like I did when I committed back in August.
</p>

"If signing day were today, I would sign with Mississippi State just like I plan to do in three or four months</p>

Recently Johnson made a return trip to Starkville during the Bulldogs' first summer camp. While he was not one of the participants, he was more than a casual observer.
</p>

"I just hung out with the coaches," said C.J. "I didn't work out or anything. I hurt my ankle back in the spring, so I am still getting over there. I am just trying to get ready for the season now."
</p>

Johnson reports that he spent the majority of his time on campus visiting with the Bulldogs' head man, Coach Dan Mullen.
</p>

"Coach Mullen was talking to me about early graduation and all of that," said C.J. "I have a class I need to take and I am about to get started on that, so I can get up there in January."
</p>

In addition to his conversations with Coach Mullen, Johnson was able to exchange pleasantries with several of the Bulldog staffers.
</p>

"I talked to Coach (Scott) Sallach, Coach Hud, Coach Les (Koenning) and Coach Melvin (Smith)," said Johnson. "I got to talk to just about all of the coaches."
</p>

While C.J. made the rounds, he was unable to meet his future position coach face to face this go around.
</p>

"I have talked with Coach Diaz some in the phone," said Johnson. "I am ready to play for him. I am probably going to be inside and that's perfect for me."
</p>

The four star linebacker reports that he is "solid" in his commitment and most of the other schools who were showing interest are now looking elsewhere.
</p>

"There just a couple of schools still trying to try hard," said Johnson. "I think everybody else figured out they don't really have a chance. I am just laying low and getting ready to go to State."
</p>

With his college course set for Starkville, C.J. is working hard to get the best players he can to join him at Mississippi State.
</p>

"I am talking to a couple of guys trying to get them to come to State," said Johnson. "We're all building relationships and friendships. I talk to Zach (Jackson) all the time and I talk to Jermaine (Whitehead) a pretty good bit too." </p>

"It was great," said Johnson of the Saturday visit. "I got a chance to see everything I needed to see. The way the academic center is set up it's almost impossible not to make your grades."
</p>

C.J. got some reinforcment for his decision from his mother who also enjoyed the trip.
</p>

"My mom and my friend went with me," said Johnson. "My mom loved it. She loved the academic center and facilities. They are awesome. She likes that you can get one-on-one tutoring if you need it. It's great how it's all set up. It's just crazy."
</p>

During the day's events, the hard hitting linebacker got to speak with his future position coach Manny Diaz.
</p>

"I got to meet with Coach Diaz," said C.J. "He seemed to be real excited about me coming. He said I fit his style of football. He says I will be playing middle linebacker. He has me real fired up about playing up there. I can't wait."
</p>

Johnson and his fellow visitors got to watch the 2009 season highlight video from the field level at Davis Wade Stadium.
</p>

"Watching the highlights were real cool," said C.J. "There were a lot of clips from the Egg Bowl. I loved it. It was crazy."
</p>

Johnson got the chance to spend a lot of time with Bulldog Head Coach Dan Mullen.
</p>

"I talked to Coach Mullen about everything," said Johnson. "He said they want me to graduate early and get in there for spring practice. I am going to probably summer school to get that done. My counselor at school said that I couldn't graduate early, but we're trying to get that worked out. I am ready to get up there."
</p>

C.J. reports that the chance to see the sites of Starkville and spend some time on campus with his future coaches only make more confident in his decision to be a Bulldog.
</p>

"I am 100% Bulldog," said Johnson. "I can't wait to get up there. I was talking to some of the other prospects there and I am trying to talk to them in becoming Bulldogs too.
</p>

"I got the chance to talk with Brent Calloway from Alabama. He's committed to Alabama, but he seemed real interested in Mississippi State.
</p>

"I hope to be able to spend some time with him this summer and maybe I can get him to be a Bulldog too."</p></span>

And two weeks ago, Calloway flipped to Auburn.

Is that a few of them shoot down the change in coaches and not having the whole staff recruit him as reasons for him decommitting. It says that he met every coach EXCEPT DIAZ and spent most of his time with Mullen.

Personally I can't put myself in the camp that the staff did something wrong here that caused all this.

A huge loss, but I don't think we magically dropped the ball in December

Hud left in December, and Diaz left shortly after the Gator Bowl. I could DEFINITELY see them "dropping the ball" on the way out the door.

And it's very possible (read: it happened) that UM found this out, and pounced on the opportunity.

I cannot comprehend why he flipped. The real reason everyone is\was ticked off and posting negative comments is the fact he was totally committed to MSU based on everything he said in interviews and then opened it up. I think the bulldog nation sees it as base treachery. I mean Ole Miss is terrible. He would get immediate playing time on a defense that is still going to kick ***. Everyone at MSU was very excited to see this guy come in. No excuses clear up the small minority of fans here that only talk trash about everything and anything at the drop of a hat, but he has been around our fan base plenty of times. Last chance CJ. Come to the school you took the time to choose. Quick decisions never go over well.

That Manny went out of his way and called CJ and encouraged him to stick with his MSU commitment b/c it was still the same place.

You'll never get me to believe it was the coaches leaving that opened up the window. This is a guy that committed when Torbrush was still the DC and once on campus he'd have no interaction with Hud anyway.

Plus the whole OM coaching staff, especially the defense are on razor thin ice going into next year and everybody knows it.

While a little different these situations are playing out just like Scotty Hopson and Cam and we all know the stories there.

"Look, CJ, you need to stay committed to us, man. I mean, to State, man. Uh huh. Be a man of your word, man. Gotta run, ceej. Ciao."
