Going into tonight Rockbridge has 185 points and Fort Defiance has 181. If they both lose, Rockbridge picks up 5 rider points for Broadways wins and Fort picks up 9 points for 9 Spottswood wins. The last spot in the Region would come down to who picks up the most rider points tonight.

The winner would be determined by rider points, but you pick up rider points for every one of your opponents each week if they win.

So while Fort would pick up 17 points for the Spotswood loss, and IF Rockbridge had lost they would gotten 13 points for a Broadway loss, the rest of schedule accumulated points this week as well

Which is why I don't bother doing the math anymore, especially with points for playing down a level. That is where they lose me. Somebody will eventually post region 3b points.

3B is waiting on TJ vs JM to finish up. But I think the 8 are set already.

5/6 James Monroe/John Marshall
7 Wythe
8 Armstrong

Could be wrong but everything is set with 1/8 2/7 and the middle can change depending on today’s result.

Winless team makes the playoffs? This is a little too much

But this is the system they went with and will refuse to change. Don't worry Wythe goes to 4A next year so don't think anyone else has this unique situation.

Obviously a weak region, but sort of unfair that those Richmond schools have to play all those Class 5 and Class 6 schools. The points for playing larger schools makes more sense in football than it does in sports that are less dependent on large school population. All the teams that have a real shot at winning states make the playoffs, so these quirks are not that important.

Still don’t like the system, it’s like a participation trophy, so who ever plays not just an 0-10 team could be a 4-6 team and someone gets hurt, that could be there season, not worth it to me
