Is this the best 3 pt shooting team ever at MSU?

Not sure what some of our alltime records are but I can never remember an MSU team with this many shooters. Even our best teams have had some brick layers around the arc and we generally only have 2 or 3 guys that can really knock it down. Heck even Varnado can hit one if left wide open.

Only time will tell. However, it will take many games like Saturday to match 94-96. We were damn good shooting the 3 in those two years. Grant, Honore, Bullard, and Dontae were all good shooters. Then there was Darryl Wilson. Who was even better than those guys. Everytime Super D shot, I felt confident it was going in.

Is this based on one game? The other games I've seen this year, they haven't shot so well. And, it will be tough to match the Darryl Wilson squads.

It wasn't just Super D that could shoot the lights out, those teams had 3 starters who could all shoot the light out. Not coincidentally, those were the best teams we've ever had. The one big gripe I've had with Stans his entire coaching career has been that he has never recruited enough guys who could shoot the ball well.

Based off the last three games where we have hit 36 threes. Also let me clarify: I am talking about OVERALL not just one or two guys. The Final Four team had Super D and Bullard but really that was about it except for an occasional three from Donte. I think some of you are letting your years run together. Virtually every player on our current team can hit the three with the exception of Bailey.

Not to split hairs with you, because your main point......this team has alot of good shooters...I agree.....however, Dontae Jones could flat shoot the ball. When he felt like it.

Anyway back on topic

Without checking, I'd bet outside the 94-96 teams, we haven't had many teams at all shoot that percentage. And if you take the new longer 3-point line into account, I'd say that right now it looks like this is one of the better 3-point shooting teams we've had.

For now, I gotta go with the 94-96 teams....this year's squad has the potentianl, but there's a looong way to go.

Top to bottom. From the point guard to the 10th guy off the bench. All of these guys are pretty good beyond the arc. I am not even suggesting that this team is even in the realm of being a great team. I am strictly talking about the number of pure shooters.</p>

a lot of that may be because we are running 4 guards a LOT of the time. Everybody keeps referring to the 96 team, so at any one time on the court, this year's team has 4 shooters while that team had at most 3 at a time. So, head to head, it makes sense that this year's offense would be more centered around the 3.

That being said, the first 5 guys can fill it up when they are hot:

Barry
Ravern
Bost
Turner
Benock

And obviously, the more guys you have that can shoot, the less likely it is that they will all be cold at the same time... at least, that's the theory.

Its good to know we got two 6'8 guys who can pull one from beyond the arc as well. Osby and Augustus are solid at times.
