Anyone else catch that little blurb by the announcers that the all time returns for a TD in college is 5 in a season??
If that's true, he only needs to return 2 more to tie the record and it's only game 2 of the season.

I just saw the replays of the 2 returns vs SC State. I would chalk the first one up to his elusiveness and great blocking down field. The 2nd one, SC State had a terrible missed tackle as soon as Swain caught the ball. Once he got past that initial guy, it was a pretty wide open field.

The opposing teams will just start rugby bouncing the kicks or kicking away from him. I would be surprised if teams really give him chances the rest of the year. Worst thing would be if teams just start going on it on fourth down against us....
Yeah, the success is a double-edge sword. He can only be a secret weapon for so long. Three punt returns in two games pretty much guarantees he won't get many chances here on out. That's why the record for a whole season is only 5.
Really the second one against SC State...I won't say it was luck...but you ordinarily wouldn't want your returner doing what Swain did. The ball was bouncing/rolling and he picked it up on the bounce almost simultaneously with being hit by a SC State player. Once had had the ball, the SC State player made a lousy attempt at a tackle, Swain made some great moves and then we had great blocking. But coaches would ordinarily say just don't touch it in that situation. Swain is obviously feeling it though.

Great blocking seems like the common denominator. He's had a wall on the right side of the field on each of the three returns.
When Swain picked up that ball I said "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" I imagine most fans did.
You saw a lot of guys intentionally not blindside someone or they used the back of their shoulder to avoid a block in the back on those returns. That's good coaching.
