Is Whitley the weakest link on Defense?

This guy, as a senior, has showed me little to nothing this year. Is inability to stop the run is the hardest to understand. That poor excuse for a tackle on Hill's long run was pathetic.

Whitley is currently tied for the most career interceptions among active players so I don't know that I would call him the weakest link. He does struggle badly in one on one coverage but does well as a safety for the most part.

He was bad Saturday....

If I remember correctly, he got toasted for 2 TD's and missed a tackle on the LSU RB that cost us a 3rd TD...

He's probably played more snaps in his career than the rest of the DBs combined, so I don't know that that stat means all that much.

But we had a LB that missed the tackle on both of the LSU RB's TD's. Shouldn't have even gotten to Whitley.

Yeah. That was huge. Injuries happen though. Other players have to step up.

One thing of note though. The pre injured Whitley and the new targeting rule would not rest well together. Dude was a pure headhunter before he got hurt and is clearly not the same. Not bad just not the same.

He definitely is in over his head at this point. He's can't cover and his worst play of the year is overlooked. He bit so hard he was almost in the backfield when Sammy Coats torched him on a play action pass against Auburn. Luckily they overthrew the guy and it didn't hurt us but he simply is not very good anymore.

I assume he means active SEC players or nationally. The one he got the other day is close to enough to put him ahead career wise over our DBs.
