that the folks that have been telling us that one of the biggest reasons we can't fire Stans is because he's a great recruiter are the same ones now that are telling us we suddenly lack enough talent?
Which is it?? Is Stans a poor recruiter or great? Is he a poor evaluator of talent or a great one? Is he a poor X and O coach or a great one? Is he a master motivator or not? Does he recruit well but just seem to never be able to develope a player in his 2.5 years in the program (very few make it 4)? You Stans apologists think hard before figuring out how you want to answer this one because you can't have it both ways.
I personally have had my issues with Stans over the years because while I consider him to be slighly above average as a recruiter I think he has been a terrible evaluator of players to fit within his program (thus so many transfers). I think he is so far below average as an X and O coach it's not even close to funny and then lastly, he is well below average in terms of developing players (again, many transfers and the fact that none of his players have gotten paid to play pro ball that didn't have to ridea boat to get there.)
Regardless of all of that, I have tried to support the program throughout the years up until last year when he completely lost me and any respect I had for him as a coach/leader/disciplinarian/etc with what happened throughout the season. Now, even if you don't feel as strongly as I do, I would think most would agree, there just comes a time when it's time for a change in leadership and a new direction. MSU basketball is stale. It just is. We are what we are and honestly, I think myself and many people I know are just tired of watching this product and the program just needs new blood.
