I post this in a different thread but figured some of our basketball fans that havent seen this guys in action will get a chance to see what we are getting. Hopefully hes recoveried from surgery fully and we get the full potential of this former 5 star. If so Morrow wont be missed as bad. Cross your fingers and enjoy. His game is the complete opposite of Morrows. Copeland is a spot up shooter, hangs more away from the paint and a good slasher. Not a strong rebounder or defender. Morrow is all about defense, rebounding and banging in the paint. You are comparing Apples and Oranges. Both talented but if healthy Copeland is a scoring machine if utilized properly by the coaches.

We now need 3 guards, and at least 2 posts. I am sure Juco guys and Senior transfers are lining up to play in this "offense"
Is that the way it's going to be until Miles is no longer with us? I'm not happy with the way the team quit late this season, but I'm not sure I can handle the constant Miles bashing. I will happy to support his removal is we are not competitive next year. I'm not happy that Morrow and Jacobson left. That's not good even if you don't view them as starters. I'm not sure that Miles survives all of this. Whatever the case, he is going to get one more year.
No comparing saying ones better then the other or anything like that. In the end we need someone who can shoot the deep ball and we will get that from Copeland over Morrow. Like you stated Morrow was more physical down low and Copeland can be physical enough but has and the outside game as well which does give defenses fits, even more when its a number 4 guy that can shoot outside shots. Giving Credit where its do, Copeland appears to have the rebounding and shot blocking ability too. Copepland appears to have the end in leaping ability, Morrow is more physical but Copeland is more athletic.
The one poster above is dead on, to bad we can't have both of them and not one or the other. But as long as Copeland comes back to his old self and keeps progressing we will have a very athletic 4 man that can shoot the long shots, along with the inside game.

I have always said he should get next year. But I also don't expect the product to improve at all. It will be a miracle to even fill the scholarships.
The way Pelini and Miles treat scholarships, it pisses me off. Want to see a sport where scholarships mean something? Try coaching baseball. 3 times the roster of hoops, and roughly the same amount of scholarships.

I wouldn't say Copeland is more athletic than Morrow - I would say he has much, much better ball skills than Morrow. Better shooter, better passer, better ball handler. Copeland is not a 2-guard by any means, but he handles the ball well for his size and doesn't turn it over much at all.
What I'm trying to wrap my head around is the people who are saying, if this guy improves, and that guys provides some good minutes and we can land this grad transfer, we might not miss Morrow, Jacobson and Horne all that much. And while I can sort of agree with that, there's just one problem - the team lost 13 of its last 16 freaking games and finished next-to-last in a 14-team conference! Sorry, but plugging the holes enough to match that performance doesn't really excite me too much.

Miles is not a complete embarrassment for the university and tries really hard. You don't have to like his coaching, but it's hard not to like the man. And yeah, I don't expect the product to improve next year due to the departures. The whole thing is quite depressing. I hope it's not a total implosion next season.

I will sit through the games either way. If they suck, they suck. Nothing new.
Don't worry, miles will find a way to drain out any basketball talent he may have running the five spot in the three man weave offense.
Do you think Morrow and especially Jacobson felt the heat of someone who has some shooting range to his game and didn't want to compete. I have a friend's son that played with Jacobson in Highschool who said that Jacobson always thought he was a better 3 point shooter than he was and didn't want to accept reality.
To me, that's a narrative that a coaching staff on the hot seat wants fans to believe. In reality, I just don't see that as a major factor in all of this. Both of these guys have played a lot since they stepped foot on campus and neither of these guys expected that to change.
He'll be a good fit in Miles offense if he can pick & pop. But as we get into league play and opponents are more dialed in to scouting reports, I can see things getting much tougher for him. Career averages are about the same as Jacobsen's if I recall correctly, but he does have more potential.
Not a banger or a creator. So he'll have to score as we saw on the highlight tape. He'll struggle to defend down low if Miles does what he has always done and that is ask forwards to guard in the low post while Tim, like Doc before him, plays the small lineups that he so dearly loves to use.
I could be wrong but it appeared to me that Miles might have discouraged Jacobsen from shooting perimeter jumpers. Maybe that was part of his "style of play" reason for leaving. As far as Copeland goes, he has good ability it appears to put the ball and the floor and go around his guy if they jump out on him to stop him from shooting the 3.
