That’s quite the straw man argument. Who saw DT as a Savior? Do you think that’s really a thing? Some of us just saw him as a guy with potential to get the program back to being competitive. That doesn’t mean he was seen as a savior. That’s your way of knocking anyone seen as a possible replacement, maybe,
And honestly I think MSU is a huge Brands' fan, which I completely get because I am as well. But I do think that can fog one's vision WRT what's been happening as of late. That reporter or whatever he was was spot on with his stats and with what he saw and hasn't been seeing with this current version of the Iowa program.

Please tell me what plans and good REALISTIC names have been mentioned. Because I haven’t read them. One thing I am not is disingenuous. If Cael or Cunningham were options then I wouldn’t argue against that. Other than those 2, there is not one PROVEN coach to truly consider and the only other things mentioned are all great wrestlers with little to no coaching experience or even true interest in coaching.

With that said, I do think Nolf is intriguing. Not sure he has is an actual, viable solution, but I could see kicking those tires. After that I just don’t see it anywhere…
Sold. Can't back out now.

Why do you guys always mention Nolf but not Zain. Zain actually coaches, he’s been a full time coach since the Olympics. He’s a world champ, Olympian, made 4 world teams. His last 3 years of college was one of the most dominate stretches in history . 2x Hodge winner. He could bring back punishing top wrestling which iowa used to be known for. And in the process you might steal the guy Cael grooming to be his replacement since DT jumped ship on him.
I was just about to suggest we should get the 2 of them as a package deal.

I think it is really important to get at least one former Askren guy on staff- too many great recruits in a state that touches Iowa to not get any. I would also try to get at least one guy on staff that was in the PSU program for an entire career. Maybe an established coach like Rob Koll with assistant coaches like KOT, Nick Lee, and Trent Hidley. There are options. I think the number one job of the head coach is all of the other duties that MSU was talking about. PSU has Cody doing most of that. Jimmy Kennedy handles most of that for DT. Pat Pop would be another great hire. He could bring Gwiz as the big guy coach and sprinkle in a David Carr or KOT for middleweights and Ramos,Gilman,Spencer,Nick Lee, or whomever for light weights. Iowa wrestling is like Alabama football- there will be interest.

This. It's silly to think that Taylor won't continue to strengthen that program quickly.

Sidenote, Mocco is obviously a stud but I think the Brands missed big time with not recruiting Dreshaun Ross from Fort Dodge. He will be a monster for Okie State. I saw him wrestle a couple times and he is an athletic freak!
We recruited him, he took his official visit same time Mocco and the other studs in that class did. He just chose Taylor. Flo claimed Cael really wanted him, and rarely loses guys he all in on, so he must really be drinking the Taylor Kool aid. I bet PSU was his second choice.

Lmfao, I literally listed “what is there” in several posts. Go back and read. One thing I don’t do is come to an argument without all the facts. PSU should outscore OkState by at least 50 points and maybe even a hundred. They aren’t REMOTELY close.

I even listed the recruits committed the next 2 years and PSU has, so far, out recruited OkState in 2027 and with a stacked starting lineup they STILL recruited Jayden James this season. Mind you, I am NOT a PSU fan and really have nothing against OkState.

Again, I have listed PSU’s guys in glaring detail and mentioned every pertinent guy OkState has and will have through 2027. OkState may beat everyone else, but they will be hard pressed to score within 30 of PSU and probably closer to 50….
I’m almost glad James left Vteck. If he didn’t, they may have passed us sooner with Bassett, Miller, and a few 2025 studs they already have.

Sadly the known ugly outcome is what kept the wife and I from making the trek. :(
Don't do that again. Enjoy watching these young men from all schools compete whenever you get a chance! Wrestling needs fans and everything is a cycle to some degree except my beloved Raiders- they always suck.

I think Iowa will end up winning but won’t be surprised if they lose. People seem to forget Nebraska almost always wrestles Iowa pretty tough. You know, because they have a strategy and game plan like most men’s college wrestling teams…
I really hope they win, heck I hope we get another DeSanto type moment in Lincoln. That would go a long way to shutting people (including myself) up.

Complete and utter BS. Go back and read. There are plenty that felt and still feel that way.

Also, look up the definition of savior. You should have done that before you posted this drivel. You basically put the definition into your response. Even then, have I ever directly even argued with you over DT? Maybe you have been lighter on DT than others but plenty wanted to move heaven and earth to get him and are now using him at OkState to continue that stance.

But, hey, here is a good straw man for you: Maybe you should just stick to smoking weed!😉
I was on the DT bandwagon before he committed to the Cowboys. And I’m not a fan of DT. Nobody was seeing him as a savior, imo. It’s just your way of advocating for the Hawks to embrace the new norm of lowered expectations, imo.

When Nolf was on Flo and they asked him if he would be interested in being Taylor’s top assistant, and he said he’s only interested in having his own program as head coach.
That's cool. I still hope we throw an offer at him to be an assistant.

The stars aligned, the heavens opened, and Taylor struck lightning with OSU, that won't happen again. Nolf is naive or down right ignotant if he thinks that'll happen to him too at a top 5 school.

I don’t like ambiguity. Much like texting, where tone can be easily misconstrued, it is very easy to twist a sentence or two vs 3 or 4paragraphs, that, if spoken in a direct, verbal conversation would be less than 30 seconds…but, I get that social media has limited most people’s attention spans to that level…
I totally get that, I honestly think that you're right most of your texts. But what I will say you go back-and-forth and dry things into the ground. But that's OK because you like the topic and you want to talk about it. And I'm saying if it was a face-to-face conversation would probably go easier.

You're not "wrong" often and if you are it's something that's in question or speculative . I also get that people that like wrestling wanna talk about wrestling.

A few years back I compared to Penn State wrestling to the SEC. There were some people here that got a little bit salty about it but then I pointed out that Penn State won more titles in the time that Sanderson started in the SEC won in football. Recently you've been saying things like that like no one's ever done something like this.

So when you have a fan base like I was who is very passionate about this sport and who has had amazing success in the past that's the standard they want to be at. They want that level. And a tough thing about that is it might never happen again at that level because of a bunch of reasons that we could hash out together over beers or whiskeys .

There's nothing wrong with loving a sport and there's nothing wrong with talking about it. That's my point.

MSU is obviously a good person whose life has been influenced by wrestling and I’m happy to share that experience with him as well. His pov is way different than the morans like us because he’s not an iowa guy per say But of course he is in fact a hawk since he’s a fan. Although I disagree with his positions on some stuff, I totally see his pov from where he sits. Now with that said- brands still need to go and have for a while. Lol

Although I will give you solid credit for a creative response and an even better gif, in Scrabble all you need to know is how to spell a word. You don’t have to have ANY clue what that word means….just like Nashville Hawk in this exchange! 😉
What's funny is you actually believe anyone needs your credit. You are broke lol more gas lighting. I didn't day that, i didn't mean that, you used the wrong words and you didn't actually mean what you said, but rather mean what I inferred lmfao. You have to have little guy syndrome million bucks says you are 5 ft tall

Not remotely what I said. But, I am completely content with you feeling that way. In fact, you fall right into the category where I WANT you to feel that way! Thank you for letting me know I haven’t been wasting my time!
You must have misconstrued his tone maybe he should have written teo paragraphs to explain lmfao

You seem to think resulting to insults would somehow bother me, when it is the EXACT response I am looking for from your ilk. When you can’t win the actual argument this is the next best thing to running away…if you think following me around a message board for fans of a team you are NOT a fan off and insulting me somehow makes you look better than me, by all means, dive all the way in.

I will happily and thoroughly enjoy it!

I'm not insulting you please don't be that sensitive. The point I'm trying to make is you are NOT always right just admit that and you wouldn't have such a problem explaining yourself sheesh and I'm not following you around i read threads like everyone else and respond accordingly as for my ilk, the fact you as an adult go out of your way to one up everyone shows your own insecurities. I don't know you personally so I won't insult you have a nice evening

I live 4.5 hours away from Iowa city. Bought season tickets for 5 years up until last year. Used to make most of the home duals, we had an absolute blast making the trips. But I’m not spending that time and money to watch a bunch of 1 takedown/OT matches.
Against inferior opponents, they are all world. Iowa needs to let it fly every time they step onto the mat. If you get majored, you get majored and learn from it (see Caliendo). Not attacking will always be a recipe for defeat.
