You know what, I'm really getting sick of Iowa struggles being pegged to fictitious PSU doping. If you have evidence then post the links, otherwise STFU already. In your mind everyone that places in front of Iowa at nationals is using. Its a tiring trope and doesn't help the conversation one iota.
Do you condone Starocci fingeing other dudes in the PSU room?

Pretty crazy that your life’s that boring that you’re on an Iowa board bragging about your mighty pussycat team that has more money than any other program could dream of having. Go home.
I am home. Pretty crazy that one of the richest programs with incredible history and brand appeal is laying claim to being a third world wrestling program in order to keep an older coach who has coached past his prime. Brands has done a great job for many years, but the cruel hands of time have done to him what they do to us all. It will happen to Cael too if he sticks around long enough. It happened with Harold Nichols in Ames. It never happened with Dan Gable because he walked away in his prime. The longer Iowa waits the worse it will get. Recruiting is harder with the disconnect between generations and the ever evolving nature of scrambling. I guess I just have more respect and admiration for the Iowa wrestling brand than you do. Dresser is older than Brands but he brought in two Hawkeye greats in Metcalf and DSJ to keep up with modern wrestling at the highest of levels. He is doing as much with a far lesser brand at a much weaker school. Brands chose to bring in inferior yes men instead of assistant coaches who could actually teach high level wrestling skills. Iowa has the nicest wrestling room in the country,a top level women's team, insane tradition, the biggest fan base, and a couple of old guys the sport has long since passed leading the charge.

Let’s chat leading up to 2028 NCAAs…. :)
I know you have been swinging from DT’s nethers every bit as hard as VHS was, but have you actually been watching PSU? They are setting and breaking records each year and are full of young guys that will continue it for quite some time. It’s not like they are trotting out a bunch of seniors, with the cupboard empty.

On top of that, they are still pretty much landing whatever recruit they truly desire. DT may get more competitive over time, but truly challenging PSU is going to take a run of injuries or a shakeup on the PSU coaching staff for the next few years:

125: Lilledahl-Sophomore 1x3rd and undefeated this year
133: Blaze-Freshman do I even need to say anything about him?
141: This is their “weakest” weight and they have 2 junior AA’s and a redshirting Ono here or at 133, with Blaze to interchange if necessary.
149: Van Ness is a senior, but he should have another year due to medical injury. Dalton Perry is a redshirting freshman ready to fill in after.
157: Duke is a freshman. see 133.
165: Mesenbrink is a junior.
174: Haines is a senior. They have Henckel redshirting as a freshman.
184: Welsh is a sophomore.
197: Barr is a sophomore.
285: Mirasola is a freshman.

I didn’t even mention Kasak, Sealey and the other Mirasola. You are on fantasy island if you think the team Iowa beat this year is challenging PSU any time soon…

If things continue to go as planned, retirement shouldn't be too far away. It is just a matter of whether or not I beat the Brands to it! ;)

It was sincere admiration for the work that you do. I seldom agree with everything you post, but it is not lost on me that you are incredible with your research and statistical information.
Although I hate diverting any and all praise I receive, Wrestlestat.com deserves most of the praise. It is absolutely the best site for DI wrestling. Much like everything in life, it has its weaknesses, but its strengths are about as good as it gets!

I said in the next three years. And I think OSU and DT will be there. You don't need to tell me who's on PSU's team...I watched them kick our a**es the last three years. And I see who they recruit and who they get through the portal. Like I told the other fine gentlemen; talk to me leading up to the 2028 NCAAs, which will be just two years. By 2029 it will be a competitive two-horse race at the very least.

How does it get worse… We become the next Minnesota or Michigan you big Dope!
AND there you have it my friends!!!! Teams such as Minny, Michigan, Arizon st, Northwestern, etc...... are FALLING by the wayside!!! While IOWA is "struggling" I am curious to see how many skools let wrestling go and/or go TWOOOO SHEEEeeettttttt!?!?!?!

These skools HAVE $$$$$!!! Do you think any is going to Wrestling??? These skools have wealth alumni!! Do you think any will step up to support their wrestling programs????

So start ANOTHER thread, have a POLL, BEAT the DEAD horse, or maybe to quote a famous song. "have a blow for your nose!"

The REAL story is, WHAT is IOWA going to do to stay relevant and when because it NEEDS to be, RIGHT NOW!!! Have the fans, have a new facility, apparently have $$$$???? IF you don't get the ball rolling right quick " WE ARE" SCREWED!!! and you are then those skools!!!!

The closest it has ever come to 2 teams being that good at the same time was the VERY short run tOSU went on when they had the craziest run of recruits with the Jordans, Strieblers, Snyder, Martin, Tomasello, Moore, Pletcher and even ended up with McKenna. STILL, they only scored over 110 one of those years(134.5) and that score would have lost to PSU's most recent run, every year but 2022(131.5).

The point being, there has NEVER been room for 2 teams to score anywhere close to the level PSU is at right now. The ONLY way OkState is getting anywhere close to PSU would require them actually winning several head to heads in March. While adding Jax gives them another young hammer to go with Vega, Robideau and Locket, I don't see them winning any of their matches, except Vega. Even Vega could be dealt with if PSU had to by picking the best combo out of Ono and Blaze to man 133 and 141.

With Richison behind him and apparently no restrictions on their RTC, I have no doubt OkState will be a very tough team going forward. However, PSU is scoring 170+ now consistently with no end in sight. OkState won't SNIFF 170 any time soon and THAT is what it will take for the foreseeable future!

You're making a huge assumption that all things are going to remain the same with PSU. That aint gonna happen. OSU is going to be part of the party and for that to happen others in the party are going to have to take hits. Okie has 6 of the top 11 recruits in the class of 26 per FLO and already have 2 in the top 10 for the class of 27. I give PSU all the credit they deserve but I think it's silly to think DT isn't going to be joining the party after 5 years at the helm.

I have zero faith in us over the next three years, but big expectations for DT and company while we're on our asses. And trust me, I'm no DT or Okie fan, but the recruiting speaks volumes...just ask PSU fans. :)

Wait. Are you saying that PSU is completely stocked and it will take another team being completely stocked and some luck to catch them. Holy crap! How did you come up with that? You are picking fights that shouldn't exist. People aren't simply saying that Okie State is on the right path to maybe close the gap and challenge them. That hurts doubly so for Hawk fans right now cause our direction seems to be 180 degrees from that.

Context matters, buddy. I was replying to a guy that said OkState would be right there with them in ONLY 2 years. So your argument here is non existent. If you want to say OkState is “on the right path”, that is one thing. I still don’t think they get there, but you can at least argue that. Now, 2 years? Not a chance in hell!

Under Sanderson has PSU EVER stopped reloading when they need to? Everyone said it would be over after DT and Ruth. Then Nolf, Retherford and Nickal. Now it’s Haines, Mesenbrink and Barr. After them it’s now gonna be Blaze and Duke.

I get that everything comes to an end but, I am not even remotely believing it until I see it…

I think Ok State will break tOSU's record for most tournament points by a second place team within three years. And that's as far as I will go.

I doubt Ok State will feel satisfied by that, but I believe it will be a far better place than Iowa in three year's time.
Ok St is splitting the elite hammer recruits 50-50 with PSU right now. It's only going to take a full 4-5 year cycle for the two teams to be on level.

If dalton perry is ever the starter at PSU, something has gone seriously, seriously wrong. You totally forgot Nate Desmond who already beat Lilledahl this year in folkstyle and has ranked wins all the way up at 141. Sidun, Burnett, Asher Cunningham (just won the scuffle), are all good depth. Jayden James just beat Melvin Miller, is younger than Melvin, and body-type wise is the perfect cael recruit. Would bet on him winning at least two championships here if not three. at 285, Elijah Brown, super stud. Maybe in 2033 Iowa can catch Penn State.

Notably, Penn State was not winning before NIL, hence why they only won eight titles out of nine from 2011 to 2019. The one year they didn't win, they had three three-time champions on redshirt lol.
