Per insidethegrove, Nutt told Patterson that they will use him in the Wild Rebel. Pat was apparently very intrigued by that..... I just can't believe that these kids don't talk to each other and figure out that everyone in this signing class is going to be running the Wild Rebel. I also can't believe that Pat is stupid enough to believe that they will use him in that role.

From that article, it sure sounds like Patterson is leaning toward the Rebs. I personally see nothing wrong with using any angle possible to recruit but like you said, you would think the kids would figure it out at some point.</p>

a Div 1-A recruit's psyche is that they know they are good. So, it doesn't matter to them if the coach tells 50 players they are going to run the wild rebel, they believe they can be that one.

And I know if I was a coach, I would say the exact same thing. Tell them what they want to here.

Mullen has mentioned Percy Harvin to a few recruits saying you could be our Percy Harvin.

2 or 3 a game get snaps from that formation. Its not out of the question for all of the WR and RBs to get a look there.

And welcome to recruiting. The good news for you is you have a coach that actually understands this part now. So look forward to every QB getting the next Tim Tebow bill, and every WR/RB getting the next Percy Harvin angle.

Yep, Croom and that Jimmy Johns **** was stupid. You better hope Mullen is willing to lie to get a guy.

And technically, Shula can say he didn't lie, because Johns actually did get a shot at QB. And I'll bet we give all of these guys a shot at the Wildcat, even if it's only one snap in practice.

Snead does throw out of it sometimes.

that there's a pretty distinct difference between "playing in it" and "running it" - ie the guy taking the snap.

Patterson from ITG said:
"They will probably move me around some (from the outside receiver position to the slot)," Patterson said. "They talked to me about the 'Wild Rebel.' That caught my eye. I can throw it a little bit."

From this quote, it does not appear that they told him he would "run it" or even be involved in it. Given the way that it was run last year, pretty much every offensive skill player will be involved in some way or another. It seems that Patterson is the one that made the jump from talking about it to throwing in it.

Find something else to get pissy about. We do plenty of stupid stuff.

..it's just a coach telling a recruit he has an offense package that will allow the recruit to get several touches in the course of a game.

How is this "comical?" It called "selling the program." Recruiting is like selling a used car: You have to convince somebody they will get laid if they drive the "very sexy" 1995 Honda Civic off the parking lot.

I hope Mullen is being equally comical on his recruiting trail.

It's amazing how people here can make a mountain out of a mole hill when it comes to all things Ole Miss.

What NUTT really told Patterson was "Hey Pat we only managed to beat that other school 45-0 last year. You come here and we'll make it 75, cuz hey man, they aint got nobody to get you the rock"
