It is really hard to like this team. No killer

We have played the three worst teams in the league on the road. When we played LSU, we got destroyed.

It really is. They are just painful to watch. I was more relieved that I didn't have to watch another inning last night than I was glad that we won the game. I understand that Cohen wants to win with pitching and defense, but at some point you have to have at least a little offense. And we just don't.

The pain comes from the lack of clutch. We have some offense and get folks on base, we just don't have folks who are clutch when there are runners in scoring position late in the game. Some of that is ability but more of it is mental. This is where we are really missing Fraizer and Renfroe this season.

I think we are grooming some guys who can fill that role next season, but it is killing us this year.

I don't think we need to apologize for who we have played. It is what is although it's tough jumping on off of the "wagon" with this team. A win today would put us in a good position for the final 3 games.

That's a nice way of saying that our experienced upperclassmen, as a group, have been one giant heap of fail this year.

Yeah, well... I was trying to be nice.

I still think this season is very important despite the fail for the future. I didn't expect us to be in the NCAA Championship game again this year but with the young guys we have and have coming in, we could be again soon.

Well, we now have 16 conference wins with a series left to play....

we haven't had 17 in quite a while and we haven't had more than 17 since 1997.

Well, tbf our record in extra innings is like 5 or 6 and 0. You'd expect it to even out more, but at the same time, is a testament to our pitching staff. Our bullpen can outlast most teams.

This team needs three things, clutch hitting

Catcher defense, and Preston Brown to get well but Lacter may be the guy.

I'm not sure "clutch hitting" is a real thing if you are talking about a characteristic of a player or team. The St. Louis Cardinals went from a mind blowing .330 BA with runners in scoring position last year to .229 this year, which is well below their normal batting average.

You would expect it over a long enough time to regress to your overall batting average, with periods both above and below it.

Must learn to like this team for what it is...

That is a team with solid pitching, solid defense (except behind the dish) but will not light up the scoreboard and will often squander RISP opportunities. Thus, the games we win will often be low scoring nail chewers that occasionally require extra frames. We will almost always lose when the other team is able to get a 3 run lead early. It is just who we are. It is really what college baseball is now.

I really think we have a pretty good chance to make some noise in the post-season because there pitching becomes paramount and JC coached teams have demonstrated a propensity to blossom once the regular season has ended. I think we need to be careful in the SECT. We need to balance how that tourney could help us in the regional mix vs wearing arms out.
