yes, he has that big body and sometimes he doesn't block out like we all want him to do BUT this young man is a huge cog in the wheel of our team. He is a tremendous talent who is improving with each game. We need him to play because with every minute he does he is getting better. Let it go and watch the development of this talent.

He's well ahead of where he was a year ago. He has a better attitude on the court. He doesn't get frustrated.

He still have a ways to go on D, but he is improving. That's about all you can ask for.

he gets a ton of bad calls. And to me a lot of times he's not giving much effort bc if he does he will foul out of the damn game.

He had a couple of absolute ******** foul calls against him tonight, but when he gets hit with contact while shootingand falls to the floor, the refs swallow their whistle. I loved his effort tonight, I will also give our staff credit for his improvement this season. I really can't question his defensiveeffort either, when he does try to be aggressive, a whistle is blown if it even remotely looked like he brushed into a player. I wonder if the refs will ever get past his "reputation" and call a decent, fair, game that he is participating in.

However, not one word was mentioned about his 3 to 5 big time blocked shots down low.<div>
</div><div>So, yes, he can get lazy on defense at times, but I, by no means, think that he is a bad defensive player. </div>

It can't be that hard to notice how much of an impact Sid has been giving towards this team. Without him, we wouldn't even be in as good of a situation we're in right now.

and played tremendous basketball on the offensive end. He is the worst 17ing defender I've ever seen though. When slow white guys on Vanderbilt are dribbling the basketball from the opposite foul line and dunking straight in your face because you decided to guard the guy without the ball you are a horrible defender. Maybe Stansbury should invent some 17ed up zone with Sidney at the foul line and tell him to spread his arms wide and don't move. Then atleast his gigantic body will be taking up about 8 feet of space to pass or shoot from. Literally every single player on the opposite teams we play is salivating at the opportunity to drive the ball on Sidney. Great offensive player though.

Dykes said nothing as we brought it up court, after killing him all game for being a liability on defense (which...okay, he can be. WE GET IT.). If any other team's player was singled out all game like Dykes does with Sidney, he'd be blasted by their fans. If he did this to a UK player, those nutbags would have his cell phone, home phone, work phone and personal e-mail address out there. But the majority on here (or at least the vocal minority, please correct me if I'm wrong) listen to him and are all "yeah, <17> that worthless guy!"

But I can recall at least 3 plays where he either blocked the shot or dramatically altered the shot leading to a turnover... Oh, and he also had three steals<div>
</div><div>On the play where Whitey got the dunk, there were two other players that were closer to the boy that Sidney was (I think it was Bost and Moultrie), and not one person (Dykes included) blamed that defensive miscue on them. </div><div>
</div><div>I concede that Sidney gets lazy and flat-footed on the defensive end, but his size and ability allows him to make plays when he has to. His 2 or 3 minute stretch of Defense when they kept trying to go down low to Festus is one of the main reasons that we went on a 20-2 run.</div><div>
</div><div>Don't believe me? Why would they be asking Festus about it after the game:</div><div>
</div><div>Festus on Sidney's Defense: "It was more me, I think. I kind of relaxed for the first few minutes of the 2nd half, and he got the best of me."</div>

is atrocious. I watched him literally run out of the paint to allow a driving OM player go unimpeded to the rim. I also watched his lack of boxing out allow numerous rebounds and a few slam dunk putbacks by OM which sparked their team in a major way. Sid>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Wendell.

Then you have never seen Wendell Lewis play defense.

Sidney hasn't always played hard ondefense, but he is right now. Yes, it looks like he's just standing there sometimes. A lot of that is dictated by foul trouble and hisemphasis (probably with the coaches' direction) on making sure he's in better position to rebound a 3-point shotrather than try to get a hand in the shooter's face (that continued crap by Dykes about not stepping out on 3-point shooters was a joke; he is a basketball retard). But our team defense is infinitely betterwith Sidney in than with him out. Go back and watch the Ole Miss game again. Buckner had an absolute field day with Wendell Lewis down low. Sidney isusually in good position defensively, he just can't bevery aggressive in contesting shots becauserefs have a seriously quick whistle with him. When he is aggressive, and they don't call him for afoul, he usuallyaltersthe shot.

and seems completely dumb on what to do but he is a better shot blocker and rebounder than Sidney. He also runs back on transition D much faster too. This argument is kinda like which one is more stupid, Jim Carrey or Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber. They both are atrocious on defense. Sidney is infinitely better on offense than Lewis though. I like the move of putting Sidney at the top of the 3-point line on offense. His passing ability is tremendous.

and like I said earlier, when Sidney gets in shape and plays a good game, I will give him credit, just like I gave Stansbury credit for the last two games. Yes I will give him credit for doing well in spurts on Saturday. When he stops hurting us so much I will give him credit. I am glad we had him Saturday. We couldn't have won without him. That being said, he is still playing ****** basketball and it infuriates me. Sorry for being honest. I don't wanna be hard on him. But his successthis season will determine State's success. We know what we are gonna get out of Bost and Moultrie. If Sidney can do something as simple as getting in playing shape, we can beat anyone. We can be as good as anyone in the country with Sidney at 100%. I don't think 100% is possible though. I guess I will just have to accept this50% in shape, hustle 50% of the time, and play defense 50% of the time stuff.

The only consistency with Bost for some dang reason is he is inconsistent. I sure as hell hope that this last game where he had a great game will continue.

Now if you mean we will get a lot of effort out of Bost, and we can expect that, then I agree.

It's really hard to play defense when the refs have it out for you. Those two early fouls were total BS on Saturday.

He is what he is, and <span style="font-weight: bold;">we are a WAY better team with him on it than without him.</span>...
