in Oxford because I don't see them winning any of the next 3 after that (@AL, @ARK and Auburn). Just looks like after the next 4 games that 3-5 is probably about the best they are going to be able to do. I do think they have a pretty decent chance at knocking off KY at home though.

It will mean one less body to take carries away from Bolden.

For whatever reason, we keep feeding ole En-ricky. Bolden is better. I prefer Bolden with a mix of Jeff Scott for the speed back and then maybe some 2nd half work for Rodney Scott and En-ricky to spell someone for a few carries.

Lockett's injury really sucks for us and for him. The good news is he'll have the option of a medical redshirt if he feels he needs to come back next year.

On Johnny Brown, I could've sworn I saw him on the field after he hurt his knee. Either I was out of my mind (a distinct possibility) or he made it worse playing on it.

We've got quite a few freshmen seeing significant action in the secondary right now (Crawford, Sawyer, Grimes, Matthews), and Damien Jackson is a Juco transfer, so we have a lot of guys in the secondary playing their first full season of college football.

I'll bet we see a decent amount of improvement as the year goes on because of the youth on the field, primarily in the secondary and on the OL. How much improvement is the question. After Saturday, I'd say we still have a decent shot at 5 wins and an outside shot at 6. If we can get to 6, I'd consider that a great season given the start and the circumstances. We have to win Saturday though. UK is very beatable. We just have to show up.

They are a pretty good team, even though Florida made them look like ***. They are head and shoulders above anybody Ole Miss has played thus far.

On Damien Jackson: I really don't know the Ole Miss roster very well and who y'all think are gonna be studs and who y'all don't but I do follow recruiting pretty closely and for this guy to be a 4 star JUCO guy and to be as hyped ashe is is a joke.

He is absolutely miserable from the games i've seen Ole Miss play (didn't watch a single snap of the Fresno game). In the Jax St. gameI know for a fact I watched him simply lose his balance and fall downtwice before making a tackle and not to mention I'm pretty sure it was Jackson who let the reciever get in behind him when it was 4th and goal (or maybe just 4th and long) from about the 15.

I mean did you not think they were gonna throw it in the endzone? and yet Jackson thought he would camp out on the on the goal line and watch the Jax st. reciever slip in behind him.pure genious.

But hey, since we beat Georgia andI'm in a good mood and don'tfeel like completely bashingthe Rebs, I will say the only DBi've seen worse than Damien Jackson is Zach Smith. I still have no clue what Diaz or anybody sees in him.He is simply not good at football.

He has played in 4 games (according to SECsports.com). Medical hardships are granted if you've played 20% or less of a season.

than Jackson is Wayne Dorsey, the heralded 5 star DE from MGCCC that could not play for half of the high school teams in Mississippi right now.

Because he was held out of the 1st game, he will be able to get a medical redshirt. The way the 20% rule works is that it's always rounded up. So a football player can play in up to 12 * 20% = 2.2 games, rounded up to 3 games.

Correction: He's done. He redshirted in 2006 (no mention of it being a medical redshirt on his player profile at UM's website). So he can't get a 6th year unless they can go back and construct a case for a medical redshirt in 2006. Which would be a pretty hard sell to the NCAA committee since they didn't even claim it was a medical redshirt at the time.

I hate it for him but maybe Nutt's luck has finally run out. I'm sure though he'll go find another soul to save and let him help them out. Their game with Ky is as big as Ga was on our schedule. Maybe they call call up Nucky from Boardwalk Empire and get him to send them a few new troopers for Nutt to help.

I don't know the NCAA rule book, nor do I care to look it up, but I'm pretty sure you can't claim a medical redshirt until your eligibility is up, whether it's a 5th year medical or a 6th year medical.

I'm pretty sure at the time, all redshirts are the same, and the medical waiver or whatever it is isn't filed or granted until the end of that player's eligibility if necessary.

For the record, Chuck is saying Lockett had a shoulder issue in 2006 that they supposedly have documented.

He's definitely eligible based on the number of games played though. Whether he's granted the medical and whether he decides to take it are two separate issues.

A regular medical redshirt is claimed immediately and doesn't have to be approved by a special NCAA committee. For example, Mike Henig a few years ago was still a freshman in 2005 even though he had played in 1 game in 2004, because he took a medical redshirt for 2004. It's only the 2nd medical redshirt that you have to wait until after your eligibility is up and then apply for a special waiver. So to continue with the example (and to make it hypothetical), if Henig had been hurt again in 2005, he would have still been a sophmore in 2006 and would have had to wait until after his senior season in 2008 to apply for a 2nd senior season in 2009. In other words, you're screwed if you think Lockett's getting a 6th year.

Edit to add that I checked his stats on espn.go.com to get the years right. In 2004 he actually had a negative QB rating. I didn't know the rating could go below 0.

We'll see. Chuck was saying the staff feels pretty positive about their chances, which leads me to believe that they may have documented that Lockett was sitting out 2006 for medical reasons. I have a hard time believing our previous staff had that kind of foresight, but it's possible that they documented his 2006 injury properly.

On the QB rating thing, yea in college you can get a negative passer rating. Dexter McCluster's passer rating in 2008 was -80.00. He was 0 for 5 with 2 INTs. Good thing he isn't trying to play QB in the NFL.

They got Masoli eligible in 3 days. It's certainly possible they can get this dude a 6th year.

you're wrong. Per the Rivals site:

"According to the Ole Miss compliance office, Lockett is eligible to apply for a medical redshirt - due to the defensive end playing in no more than three games, and the injury occurring before the midway point of the season."

You're about as schizophrenic as Goat at times. Why you speak out of your *** on these issues is beyond me.
