has narrowed his list after visiting Penn State. And we're still high on it. Isn't he wanting to commit by the end of the summer? Anybody?

I think Rivals is reporting that West Virginia is the true leader among his Top 3. We're still in it, but our chances have diminished slightly....

I believe we will get him. Mullen's reputation with quarterbacks, our aggressive recruiting of him plus location will help us win out in my opinion. Once the offers stop rolling in (if they do), and he starts concentrating on a certain group of schools, I think it comes back to MSU. You can't blame him wanting to look around with that much interest in him.

I'd rather these guys wait and choose us because they want to come, rather than because we're the only option. It sometimes seems that the Gene's Page crew would prefer the latter. They hope the heavy hitters don't offer. To me, if a guy camps at say, LSU and doesn't at least get the verbal offer or a warming sort of stance, I start to be concerned.

Sadly, you are probably correct on this one. These are the same people that were in favor of pulling McPhee's offer back in December when he was wavering. Here was a JUCO All-American at a position of need trying to decide between Mississippi State and UGA and there was a portion of our fan base that wanted to cut him loose because they didn't like being "strung along."

between being a final contender for a player, like mcphee or even chaz ramsey (to throw in a guy we lost), and being strung along by a player, like lee chambers or pat patterson. MSU fans always just assume the negative, i guess because so many of them are old and still have the red headed step child mentality.

To me, right now MSU is a viable option, just like we were in the 90's. But with the coaching staff we have in place, given their reputation and all, we are a legit choice as much as Alabama and Tennessee, especially for in state guys who have a tie to the state. Not all of them, but most. You still will have players that want to go elsewhere, just because they are in the state of MS doesn't mean they like State or Ole Miss, you know? Every state has them. Guys leave Alabama all the time to go to Tennessee or Florida. Heavens dropped Auburn for us, so it happens occasionally.

For a while there, we didn't have a chance with the top players, mostly because Croom was a joke and most people knew it. It wasn't cool to be an MSU football player during that time. Henig tried to be the man on campus and it didn't work for him. recruits saw that kind of thing.
