thats the best video we have ever produced (at least in my recent memory)...its an incredibly good thing for our future, but at the same time, its incredibly sad.

He is very talented

and a nice guy to boot.

We thoroughly enjoyed his work a couple of years ago at EMCC during the team's national championship run. We watched our son and his teammates come together as a team and I really think that Derek's work had a binding effect with the players. Sounds odd, I know. But all the video stuff injected some fun and self confidence (a bit of narcissism, really) that I think helped them become a championship team. I'm glad for State that they have him but I hate to see him leave EMCC at the same time.

You will definitely enjoy his work.

A few seasons ago

he would make outstanding videos, on par w the top tier, and post them on here. Unfortunately, the school made him take them off YouTube. Apparently there was a major douche behind this that must no longer be there.

How are Derek and the new video guy from Auburn's job different? Do they work together or are they in charge of different things? I was under the impression the Auburn guy would be making videos too? Could this be his work?

Either way, awesome video and high quality. Maybe we can get them to reshoot the season ticket commercial.

I'll be Debbie Downer...

I didn't care for it. I don't mind a quick cut or two but I don't get the point of all the images that flash for less than a second. What good is video content if you can't focus on any of it. It becomes nothing more than a blur of color and shapes.

Also, I'm old so get off my lawn.

Turn up the volume. It's meant as a hype video. These are exactly the types of videos I think should be played on the jumbotrons during the games and have them sponsored by different businesses with their logos at the end of them. Kill two birds with one stone. The music in these and the HD videos will look and sound terrific on those monstrosities.

The concept was "What practice is like at The Farm", so I'm sure it was meant to be a blur and somewhat overwhelming.

The concept of

this video just completely went right over your head. Have you not seen what our video dept has been doing for the prior, oh i don't know, century? Everyone is entitled to their opinion**, but again, I believe the concept of this video just completely left you in the dark.

Ditto. From music selection to timing, it got the message across in an impactful way. Glad to see us finally moving to the next level.

I also didn't care for the way that the images were synchronized with the beat of the music. He should have used a slower song with slow motion.**

It looked

to me to be a brief, short video on the goings on of camp at the farm, as never before seen.

I take it that the poster I replied to was expecting a 5 minute segment on one drill followed by another 5 minute segment on another drill, and so on and so on. However, that is not what this video was intended to be. Again, it was obviously just a short clip(s) of various events at the farm.

is already making an impact. Sorry for not embedding as I'm posting from my phone.

The only tweak would be to make the rapid action clips last about 1.5x as long as they do before switching to the next rapid action clip. They flipped a little too fast and if I had a condition I would have started a seizure. I would like to see that same video adjusted as a comparison.

I got the point of it. And no, I wasn't expecting a five minute segment of each drill. Some of the video was pretty good - I liked the shot where the camera tracked the RB running under the plastic frames and some of the others that last more than a fraction of a second. The music was fine. But the quick cuts where you couldn't really tell what was going on seemed pointless to me. If you want to show me what's going on at camp, then show me what's going on at camp.

I'm sure it's way better than some of the previous stuff we've done. So in that sense, I'll say it's a step in the right direction.

thats even better....we now have 2 guys that know how to produce a quality video. after decades mired in visual motion incompetence, we are flooding the scene with a whopping 2 people that know what the hell they are doing in that department. we are pretty much busting at the seams. im pretty sure thats is a sign of the apocalypse. im going to start hording rice and bottled water just to make sure.

i can only imagine the look on the espn guys/gals face as he came in and assessed the quality of what we had in place. imagine the panic on their face when they realized the level of utter incompetence and overall substandard quality/rudimentary execution that is our video department.

But it did

show you what's going on at the camp. Again, the point of the video was to provide a comprehensive, short clip of the farm. Not a 10 minute video, in detail, of drills.

I can see that we just disagree on this...

I'm not looking for a 10 minute synopsis of the drills we did.

Some parts of the video were fine. They were the parts where the clips actually played out for a couple of seconds so you could tell what was going on. Again, I thought the clip where the RB was running the agility drill as the camera tracked with him was very cool.

As I mentioned, my problem was just with the parts that were essentially a seizure-inducing flash of images where you couldn't tell what was going on.

Again it is a hype video. Again you need to turn the volume up on the music. Picture it like a quick music video or a quick opening you'd see to start off a game on ESPN. The video's purpose is to get you excited for what is coming. Not to have you analyze every minute detail.

I'm starting to think you guys are just trolling me now. If so, well played.
